New to hunting from a tree stand. How far up do I need to setup? 20ft, 30ft, 40ft? Just looking for an idea. Thank you!

According to a poll I recently saw, I can't quote it because I don't remember the source, but they said the average was 16.10' for hunting. IMO 18'-22' is plenty. Depending on the terrain I have hunted at 14' or 15', I usually try to get at least 15' up.

I was exactly 30 feet up in a pine yesterday afternoon on opening day. There was not much cover so I had to get higher than usual.

Mostly depends on your backdrop and when you set it up make sure to not set up looking towards the sun!

    Good Luck!

20-24 feet generally, any higher and it changes the angle quite a bit to make a ethical double lung shot.
