Right, I'm sure you could use the Livewire with any harness but I need a new harness anyway. I've been using the one that was included with my Summit climbing stand from years ago. Sometimes I wonder if it would even hold up if I fell.

Looks like they want you to buy the $20 tree strap to use with their harness/vest too. Somewhat of a big investment to me but I guess you can't put a price on life.

I looked into the Downsafe fall descender but that sucker is bulky looking.

Any fall desender should work will it not?

Take a look at the Rescue One CDS II. I'm thinking about getting one.

BigStick, they also make a harness that is rated up to 400lbs.

Seems to me, the only time you would have an issue getting back into your stand after a fall, is if you secured your harness too low on the tree and ended up hanging way under the tree stand. Even with that, could you not get yourself over to your sticks or ladder? I don't know, I've never tried it.

I guess I'm not sure how you could get stuck after a fall unless you didn't follow the instructions or were hurt or had physical disabilities.

I haven't practiced hanging from a harness yet to know but I will soon.

    Thanks for any insight.

I talked with Robinson Outdoors yesterday; I guess units are shipping to dealers and distributors... only a matter of time! Can't wait to try these out.

I also noticed this harness doesn't have a hook for a deer drag.

x2, I even needed to buy a new harness this year after losing a lot of weight last year. My XL Muddy no longer fit like it was suppose to. I stayed with Muddy, because I like it and it works for me. I do like the design of this harness though.

Yeah, I'm debating between the Rescue One and the Hunter Safety System XL.

Tree Spider looks great, but if some are correct and saying you need to buy their stuff to use with it, no thanks. I've been using a SOP harness for years and like the fact thats its extremely lightweight, can be placed under my normal hunting clothes and uses the rope and prussic knot system that is very easy to secure and adjust as needed.

My only compaint is the tangling of it. But, if you take it off correctly and hang it, it stays tangle free. I just saw a product by Gorilla the other day that is a retrofit system that converts any harness into a vest style. Might have to invest in that.

As for the retractor, I don't know. Its a great idea, don't get me wrong, but IMO, if you setup your harness correctly, you will never fall past the platform to begin with. I have personally tried it (close to the ground of course) and have purposely went off the side of the stand. I actually didn't fall at all, only kind of swung around the tree a bit. The stand, we right there, at waist height to me.

Guys - the harness is just like any other harness on the market. It comes with a tree strap when you buy it. You don't need to buy any accessories in order to use it. There are extra tree straps and linesmen's belts available as accessories/replacement parts.

You also don't need to buy the LiveWire system. However, if you do purchase the LiveWire it will work with ANY harness. So if you already own a Muddy or an HSS you can still buy, and use, the LiveWire.

I got mine through Cabela's website. I checked today and it looks like they are out of stock on the L/XL size.

Thanks for clearing that up, Justin.

I'm on the fence with this harness. I've narrowed my choices down to the Muddy and this one. I just wish I had the luxury of trying these on before making the purchase.

It does have features built in that will only work with their Scent Blocker clothing however it does not stop you from wearing anything else, at least that's the way I read it.

I saw that too and I think I could get my jackets customized to match the Scent Blocker.

Yep. You have the OPTION to use it with a Scent Blocker jacket. Not a requirement though.

I can’t believe all this hype over a product that does not even come w/ a Lineman’s climbing strap (like all Hunter Safety System harness) and is $149.00 bucks!?? That’s the same as the HSS Pro Series that comes w/ Lineman’s strap, Tree Strap, Bino Straps, Deer Drag Strap and a suspension relief strap!

The Spider model w/ pockets is $189.00 bucks and still does not come w/ any of the extra features of the Hunter Safety System! Check out the new Ultra Lite Xtreme from Hunter Safety System Here It’s by far the most easiest to put on and adjust, quietest, comes w/ a Lineman’s climbing strap and even has Bino Straps.

Spider has none of these features! You still are going to have those dangling straps that all of us bowhunters hate, plus the weave thru buckles….I’m amazed at how some cool graphics and a lot of ad dollars fool’s everyone so easily?
