Looking to change up my tree stand situation and go to a tree saddle. Anyone use one of these? It seems like a great way to get in and out quiet. Plus save some $$ on buying tree stands. John Eberhart swears by them. Just looking for anyone's input. The one thing i did hear is they're not very comfortable for bigger people (I'm 6'2" and 220lb), This was told to me a while back when i considered the tree saddle and ended up buying another hang-on. But i figured that time has gone by and maybe technology has made them more comfortable. Thanks for any input you all have.
here it is http://forums.bowhunting.com/yaf_postst1309_Are-tree-stand-required.aspx or just scroll back in the pages until you see they topic are treestands required, this sparked my interest and i thought about one... pretty
Thanks a lot!! Ya they have always been on the back of my mind. Id like to just try one before i buy one.
I have one, ans I love it. I first used it this year and I am already looking forward to using it again next year. I use a cabelas fanny pack that I can put the tree saddle in along with 12 strap on steps (aluminum not plastic). It takes me about 20 minutes if I have never been up that tree. I can also carry Lone Wolf climbing sticks if I choose. Also I use a Lone Wolf Tree Seat to stand on. As for comfort, sitting all day, no problem at all. You are not suspended by straps around the legs like a harness, it is more of a full piece of material that your ass sits in. Very comfy!!!!!! It is easy to change positions from a standing (which is not really standing) to a sort of sit, by adjusting the strap. Now to the shooting, just practice. It is pretty easy. Just like when you hang a stand, set it up for the direction that you anticipate shooting toward. However getting moved into another position is pretty easy. Really, there are a lot of guys out there that talk of how they do not see it to be comfortable. It is. I was one of those guys, until I tried it.
Ya that's what i heard as well, but i heard its uncomfortable for bigger guys. I think im going to give it a whirl. Ill probably look like a big swollen tick on a dogs leg instead of a ninja....
I'm 6'3" and 250 lbs. and I use mine several times a year. The comfort factor is getting used to using it and learning how to properly and safely climb, attach it to the tree, and carry or wear certain accessories with you in the woods.(knee pads, hanging hooks). Like any and everything else you use it's a matter of practice and more practice and learning what is RIGHT FOR YOU.
I thought that If I were to make it to the G2G this summer I would bring mine and let some guys try it.
