Once the NWTF convention gets to Nashville, I’m sure there will be some vendors peddling their stuff. It’ll be nice to put my hands on some things.

Has anyone that tried saddle hunting ever felt they lost some of their field of view with the tree in front of them? I was looking at it as a good way to hide yourself from the deers view but talked to some folks that felt it was more of a hinderance in that respect. Thanks.

It's exactly the same as hunting from a loc on or climber stand. Nothing changes for your views. That tree will be there no matter what style of stand. I personally like a smaller tree in the 10" diameter range. It makes it easier for shots, climbing and moving around tree for me.

There are so many great videos from regular hunters that show your shooting range once you get use to hanging out on your line.

I’ll start putting some time in on YouTube for sure. Thanks for the input.

I think it’s just different, you go from having a wide open view in front to a tree. Once you get used to the “view” you realize you can see just fine, small lean to the left or right and you can cover everything.

The people who feel this way didn't practice enough when they started out. It takes some getting used to, but I like being behind the tree better. Less chance of getting busted while drawing.

Thanks. I was thinking that too. One of the main reasons I started looking into this was for the ability to hide behind the tree while still looking forward. Kind of opposite in a tree stand.

This looks like a cheap option for a tree saddle platform. And if the seat cover is too loud with your shoes, remove it and have someone weld some bars across the platform. For only $40 Id say that is a pretty decent option.

You would be better off buying one or building one out of a tree stand seat. The metal frame work on that bends easily when leaning to the side. I built one out of a Hawk Hang Out Seat.

I made this work. But, I only used the seat. I replaced the post with a 12" long T6061 Aluminum square tube 1.25" x 1.25" x 1/8" from www.onlinemetals.com I bought two of the platform tree brackets and the platform camover strap from www.doublesteps.com. Replace the teflon washers with metal washers from your local hardward store. Mount the tree brackets 1" from each end of the post. Mount the platform 4" from top of the post. The whole thing cost about $80.00

I would not use that, too much of a chance of slipping. You really need a solid platform, I spend more time on the edges rather than the top of the platform. This is one of those places the pre-fab platforms are great. I tried to build one and it just didn't work well, I swear by the Tethrd Predator platform, it has been perfect, once it's set, it doesn't move.

I quit getting on SH forums, too much "elitist" bickering, but there were concerns about seat platforms snapping/breaking, have you noticed any issues yet?
I'd like to make a few to pre-set on my private spots...not like it takes long to set the predator though.

Also started following your IG...almost had to quit once I saw the canucks jerseys.

I have not noticed any safety issue so far. My only complaint about it is that with the design of the seat, there is not enough space to fold it up flat when hiking in. Other than that, the way I built works really well. I think it would work great for a preset.

Thanks for the follow, if it is any consolation, the Preds are alright when they are not playing the Canucks.

The Canucks owned the preds this season, it was not a pretty series...for this side of the fence.

Back on topic, I have an old Walmart stand I may try to modify the seat on before I go hunting down LW seats.

Mine is the same concept as the LW seat platforms but using the Hawk Hang Out, I built it for less than the LW seat costs.

Kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on a saddle during the offseason!
