I took my two daughters out with me so they could have a little fun with dad, were floating down the fox river near saint charles and we see a couple launching there canoes in the park district. i hear him say look at that guy hes shooting a bow, the wife says he better not be as i get closer she says you cant do that this is city limits and its a park district i said lady im in the river not on the bank. She replies you cant do that im going to call the park district i tell her good luck and not three seconds later i shot a 15lb. carp right in front of her husband it was great...... freekin tree huggers mind your own business!!!

Yeah, I used to have that problem when I bowfished up in C'ville and Elgin. It's sad how freaked out city folks get at the sight of a 'weapon'.

Some thought I was shooting ducks and geese.

I finally put 'Carp Control' in big orange letters on the side of my jon boat. It was funny how well that worked. I could hear the kayakers gasping... "oh my gosh, what are they doing in that boat?!! Are those bows??!!" And then they'd get closer and they'd read the boat and I'd hear.. "Oh, it's okay.... they're carp control!".
    ...snicker...

To be fair, a couple of times we'd get folks watching from the bike path and they'd cheer whenever we got a carp.

Down here and in Southern Illinois.... a lot of the people really like to see you out bowfishing. 'Kill 'em all!' they'll say about the carp and gar. Carp and gar are not well loved by most of the rural community. :)

You did good...I would have loved to see their face when you shot in front of them. I was walking back to the truck after a day of deer hunting and some old folks were walking down the road (In the middle of a very active hunting area!) just taking a stroll. They saw me and said some not very nice things. I just shook my head and loaded up the truck. I did warn them that there were several hunters not 100 yards off the road nearby, some with guns, some with bows, and they told me "We don't care, you shouldn't be here anyways"...Uhhh...Did you not see the big brown Wildlife Management Area sign on your way in?!

How the hell did the human race deviate from our natural hunting instinct to the majority of us being treehugging hippy fools.
