What are you using for a bait or lure? Especially for the kitties, that's what I'm really wanting to get.

    Bait and lure.

Not sure Christine. I'll look at that when I reset again.

Me and my buddies just started trapping. We have a property on a Lake Erie Trib with about 12 beaver slides. Had them set u with snares and foot traps. Pulled them during extended gun but putting them back out soon.

Any tips on slides? We didn' think we should use bait or anything.

But we did catch a squirrel (leg) lol and some snares were pulled I think we just need to set them better and one missing foot trap due to bad connection to a tree but I personally think the other hunter pulled it as soon as he saw there was an animal in it.

Just to save time I try to put in a couple "possum" sets before I make a good flat set for coyotes.

Move down wind 20 yards or so and set a couple 1 and half coil springs in a couple small cubbie made of a stump or a rock that has a very small entrance, possum will root its way in where no coyote or cats would ever try.Catching them before they disrupt your primary set.

Best trap for beaver, especially slides is a 330 conibear. The only time I use foot holds for beaver is if otter aren't in season. Center your 330 on the slide and fence the crap out of them, a lot of fencing doesn't bother beaver like some animals. Also I would recommend if you are using footholds to set them up with drowning slide wires to kill them. I wouldn't dead stake footholds for beaver. As far as lure you can use castor mound sets. They are really easy just slop a softball to volleyball pile of mud a foot or so from the edge of the water put your trap in front of it and like I said fence the crap out of it so he can only go over/through your trap. Good luck! ImageUploadedByTapatalk1356200842.103352.jpg one of my better beavers this year 50+ lbs.

Just as a note. In many places it is illegal to set a 330 conibear on land.

X2 I didn't mention it specifically but any slide/blind sets I make for beaver are all in the water. It's illegal to have a 330 on land here in Vermont but luckily there's no minimum water depth that they have to be set in. Thanks Christine.

I'd bet millions with the newly bedded sets and the cold weather, I'll see another possum in a trap in the am.
