been playing around with these for about 4 years now. learned a few lessons along the way after having GREAT sucsess with some and not so good with others.
so far, the best luck has been with small OAK trees. for some reason, they seem to retain their leaves longer and the bucks just seem to really enjoy getting thier faces in them and making noise..
heres a pic of one i put out about oct 5th. it on the edge of a 1/2 acre clover/rape seed plot.
sat there for the first time a couple nights ago. 2- 1.5 bucks and a nice 3.5 came into the plot. without even taking a nibble, they all 3 made a BEELINE for the tree. was fun watching them all work the crap out of the licking branch. the 3.5 120ish 8 point really put on a show at 15 yards..
