If there is going to be wheel traffic or a lot of shade, plant loggers trail mix. If there is plenty of sunlight and if someone wants a little higher plane of nutrition then there is a mix i recommend called sweet retreat. The sweet retreat has annual clovers, triticale, ladino and alsike clovers, rape and high sugar perennial ryegrass.

Logging roads are great areas for plots. The most important part...I repeat...The MOST important part of making them successful is do a soil test before deciding what to plant. Knowing the condition& makeup of your soil should dictate what seeds you put in it.

Very possible and we do it to an extent even on our tiny quad trails. First step if very serious about getting them to flourish is soil test...as for seed choice I like clover or a mixture of rye/oats as they are more tolerant to lower ph's and can do very well being re-seeded throughout the year.

The best ones for the $ are the ones from whitetail institute. $10 per test, and you can call them up at anytime with questions or to discuss your results at any time.
