Who sets their cameras up on a trail? Or over a big food plot or over a pile of corn? Where do you get the most buck pics, need help so reply

Where you will get your majority of buck on camera depends on where you hunt. If your on farmland i think you would be better off setting up over a major food source that is active for a decent portion of the year. If you hunt dense thick wilderness your best shot would be heavily used game trails. Im sure some guys will explain this much better than I have but good luck with wherever you put your cams.

I set mine up where the bucks tend to travel through to get to feeding or bedding areas. Spots that I can access mid day without pressuring them.

Right now I'm getting most of mine over a water source. It's been a very hot and dry summer here. 6-30-12 HBD Pond.jpg

.BH, I just got back from checking out four waterholes that was not dried up. I expected to see the places overrun with tracks but that was nother the case. Almost no tracks? That does not make sense, any thoughts? What are others experiencing in their preseason scouting?

I'd say the deer are watering somewhere else. Maybe a hidden water source closer to cover. I had the same issue and later found a small but easily accessible water hole in the woods that got very little sunshine. The water and surrounding area stayed quite a bit cooler than the water holes that were out in the sun. Lots of tracks there too. Just a thought.

I like good trails and some kind of feed or minerals to keep them there for the camera if possible. Corn and other food is easily seen so trails are good on public land. Make sure you hide your cameras well though.

    Hope this helps.

Corn has always done best for me when I can use it.

I've done a little of everything. Last year I did a mineral site, but thats not legal in the zones I'll be hunting this year. Now I stick to trails and use some vanilla, strictly to get them moving so I can get an inventory.
