My last post will be this.

You looked up the price, retail or trade in value? You had your intentions set when you took it off the tree.

Whether or not your conscience set in and you felt guilt or remorse does not justify the original action. You even came on here to convince yourself if others do it I'll keep it. Otherwise you would have just taken it back and we would have never known the dirty deed.

All that being said, I'm not the image of perfect. I've made, and probably will again, mistakes. It's what you take from them that counts, and how you apply them in the future that matters most. Everyone has been young and dumb, but most of us tried to leave the dumb behind with the young.

I hope you really did return it, we'll never truly know. If you did good for you and remember the feeling as you drove back. More importantly, the next time you see something that piques your interest, think back to this thread and what made you post it.

I've probably made more mistakes on here than most, I can relate. I will say I'm glad you came to your senses and took it back, whether it was everyone goading you into it or it was a true case of conciense we'll never know. Point is, keep your hands off other peoples **** in the future and hopefully this was a learning point.

We'll I'm glad you decided to put it back. I put a ladder stand up on Sunday and hunted it on Monday, went back to hunt in it last night and to take it down after and it was gone. DNR left his card paper clipped to the tree!

What if the owner returned to retrieve it or the card in it was gone? Why would the owner go back there ever again in hopes it would magically reappear? I have 6 cams out on public ground this year. Although I have pictures of curious hunters, one of which used one of my stands they are all still right where they should be. I'll keep my fingers crossed... May pull them before gun season.

Be curious to know why he did that? Some type of violation I suppose. Let us know the rest of the story. :)

I have came across them on public land before...I've made a few goofy faces and went on my way. Yes, I've made mistakes before. Everyone has...but I have never taken someones stuff. I know I don't want mine taken. Cause if I catch someone taking mine...I will cut their damn fingers off! I don't hunt on public land much, but won't put a camera up cause of people taking them. Mine are all on my private land. I did catch my neighbor hunting once...he had permission though. He dragged the deer he killed in from of my camera and acted like he was riding the deer...lol.

Well, anyway I hope you did take it back and learned from this mistake.

Pose for a couple pictures and move on. Only a POS would steal it. That being said I always put my cameras up in pairs watching each other (one being hidden). If you steal one of my cameras I will find you.:ninja:

I hope the owner sees you bringing it back and punches you in the mouth.

Bravery? Really? Thievery. Well a lesson was leaned today I hope. Funny thing would be if when the "brave" dude returns the camera some behemoth camera owner spots dude and really lays into him. I can just see it now. NO NO I swear I was just borrowing it for a little while. No stop please ouch. Hahaha. Nobody likes a thief dude really. Glad you're returning it. It sucks when stuff gets stolen.

First off, you looked up the price... That's a dead ringer.. Enough said. I'm too good to get into a heated debate over right and wrong, young and old.. Right is right and wrong is wrong. My 2 year old knows not to steal stuff. Just sayin.

Wow...what is wrong with our society when people just take stuff that doesn't belong to them. Buy your own camera and put theirs back. This will definitely be on the list at the Pearly Gates, not to mention just before Christmas...really?

Really? Someone really made a post on a hunting forum about stealing a camera? The good thing is most thieves are pretty dumb.

No, Ive never ever had the thought to steal a camera, treestand, or anything else that isn't mine. Im a firm believer in earning what you have. The mentality you still have makes me believe you didnt return it and will probably do it again.

Hunting public land is a pain because of people like you. Go get a job and grow up!

Do the locks that they make for cameras not work? I bought a camera this year, along with a lock. Never hung it because I only have public land to hunt. Now I know why. Better hope you don't get caught buckwheat. A broadhead in the *** will probably hurt for awhile.

"Thinking" about stealing & "actually stealing" are two entirely different things my friend......

We all made mistakes, especially when we were young. Too many guys here riding on their white horses wearing their angles wings. Get over yourselves. This kid stole a camera, felt bad about it, and returned it. How many people don't feel bad when they steal. Good for him for having a conscience. It's a learning experience, hopefully he will not make the same mistake again.

I can guarantee by your actions if it was a nice camera you would've taken it. My dog knows not to steal.... And he is a dog! Don't try to make your self feel better because you turned it on.

What a crazy thread.... Who asks "should I steal or should I not" ..... What has the world come too!
