The end user is the only trusted opinion and then only if he or she has many other brands to know the difference between good and bad is. People giving opinions on cams they never have owned blows my mind.

You wouldn't waste your time, but I still will. I'm starting to see the same push for Coverts on this site...sad.

OP, price plays a huge role on what you get and there are many pros and cons to each camera. Each manufacturer and cam are give and take. Some may have decent pictures, but poor video. Some have poor battery life but take great pictures. Some leak, some don't like the extreme cold, etc. When you come across a cam at a price you can afford research the make and model number to see if the reviews are what your willing to accept. And take pro staffers recommendations with a grain of salt.

You caught me :busted: Nice work Sherlock.

To be honest I love trail camera pics and don't really care what brand they are. You will notice no where did I name drop and only replied when someone gave awful advice of a couple forums to visit for trail camera info. I guess I know a little too much about both of those sites to let someone believe anything they read on there. I guess I will just tuck my tail and head back to the manufacturers section

I had some awesome pics to post from the last couple weeks too but wouldn't want to be accused of being a promoter again.

    unbiased review

Wouldn't have anything to do with being "Banned" from one of the sites and the other not giving the company you work for a space to promote convert would it?

Just looking for that "unbiased" opinion you spoke of?

I'm using Covert Scouting MP6 Camera. Why? because the day light photos are outstanding and I am able to enlarge them and retain fine detail. Had a red tail hawk land and got three photos in a row and remained in focus as it came in. Night photos were better than a friend that has a more expensive cam. Battery life seems good so far.

I have experience with a few different brands.

Cuddebacks pic quality have been awesome for me, but battery life is always really poor. I'm sure some newer ones will be better on that.

Moultrie was junk for me. Same with older Stealth Cams, but the new ones look solid.

Primos have been great, cheap cams. No complaints whatsoever on these. Great value buy.

The Covert I am using is the MP6. Daytime pics are great, but a lot of the night pics leave a lot to be desired. I have moved it to a scrape line, where projected range is much shorter, and it has increased the quality. Overall it is a good cam, but would probably only purchase if I found on sale. The battery life and ease of set up are both top notch though.

I have used trail cameras from the time that I had to make my own from early digital Olympus cameras. I have tried MANY, MANY different brands in weather from over 100 degrees to well below zero. Reconyx makes a great trail camera that is very dependable and takes great pictures. BUT, it is terribly expensive. After meeting Tom "Monster Raxx" and "Richard The Promoter", at the Iowa Deer Classic, I ordered 4 Coverts. I absolutely love them. I have never once had one fail at any level and they take great photos. I forgot one out last year that was hung in November and I came across it during spring shed hunting season in March, and it took my picture! In fact, when I pulled the card, it had pictures of the buck I killed in late November. Nice surprise.

Can someone post some MPE5 pics? Both day and night?

I don't have a Covert MP5 but from what I have seen, they are solid cameras for the price. Personally, if you can afford $20-30 more, depending if the MP8 is in sale, get that, they're great
