    There are so many choices now a days that it's hard to give you options without knowing what kind you want. I would just say search around and read reviews based on how good of a camera you want. Obviously the best out there will take video and offer the ability to check from your PC/Smart phone. I'm not 100% on the smart phone part but with today's technology, the thought is not a far fetched.

    Check out the HCO Scout guard SG550. Great little camera with great battery life. I have used several of them for 3 years now and have never had a single problem. They take video and photos with almost unlimited settings. Definitely worth a look.
