What batteries do you guys use for trail cameras? I hear lithium batteries are better for cold weather which we have a lot of in illinois. All my cameras are new so I won't have to worry about dealing with old cameras

My Leupolds RCX-2 take AA batteries, but I use the jack for a 12V external battery.

I'm currently using 12V "sealed lead-acid" batteries out of computer UPS(uninterruptible power supplies) and just charge them on my 2A ATV trickle charger. Any 12V lead-acid battery would work for that matter; when the apples are dropping I can end up with 1500 images in week.

    Good luck,

You may not believe me but I've got a Covert Red 40 that my wife bought me for Christmas 2012. It went out right after I got it with a set of lithiums in it and I haven't changed them yet. That's more than a year and a half and counting. Otherwise, I use rechargeables almost exclusively.

    Blessings.........Pastorjim

I've been using Rayovacs. I wait for the 30 packs to go on sale at Menards or Ace for $7 and load up. I've had great results with them, despite their cheapness.

    Check out these temps :tu:

Rayovacs for me as well. I just changed some in one of my cameras after about 2.5-3 months. They still had about 40% left so I could have gotten probably two more months out of them. Only reason I changed them is because I won't be back to check them again till about mid September. They do really well in the cold too.
