Yeah.. he was an awesome deer! I passed him twice that season, knowing he was only a 3 yr old in this picture (I had sheds/pics from 2 previous years). His home territory was a small 10 acre parcel that I hunt and I had high hopes of him hitting the Boone & Crockett mark in the next couple years. Unfortunately, he was shot by a neighbor later in the season. Scored in the low 150's as a 3 yr old. I usually don't get too upset when the neighbors shoot a buck, but I don't think I'll ever get over this one
He was definitely a deer with a lot of character and great potential, that is too bad. Hopefully his genetics got out and another big one will come up in the next couple years for you
Great looking buck! Is it me or does his right front leg appear to be injured? Notice the swelling at the joint and awkward orientation of the extremity in relation to the rest of his body?
