Shame because they have some beautiful country and Red Stages. I talked with a guy and he said he knows somebody that knows a guy with private land I could bow hunt on but I think I'll pass. I'll go back to New Zealand. They rock.

You could call the state game and fish dept. and the traditional groups and tell them you feelings. If you and enough others did that they may change their outlook on it. That is how it happened in ND a few years back. I wouldn't take any of the credit but I did let the DNR know what I thought in a letter and in a phone call. It couldn't hurt to try.

Great point. Maybe we can start that here on Colorado. Or all of the states that don't allow.

It may be one of those things that we may out number the trad guys but they are louder.

Please don't start that argument again. Both traditional and compound bow are very accurate. There are good and bad shooters using both styles.

Ill have to take your word for it then.
Most of the shots I see from recurves or D bows are questionable at best. I know they take a lot of skill and practise to shoot well and I believe the problem is lack of the ladder.
The people's who's hunting tradition they're wanting us all to imulate used their bows daily from probably the time they were old enough to walk. We don't shoot our bows for survival so a little technology is a good thing. IMO

Hog Hunt in TN from 1995 with a Sony Handycam.

I don't know how many trad shooters you know or have seen so I can't comment on that.
An awful lot of today's trad shooters come from the compound community looking for more of a challenge. Those that do are very committed to shooting and practice often if not daily. If you go to TradGang.com or Bowsite's Leatherwall II you can see some impressive examples of shooting.
There are many in bowhunting today that DO need to hunt to supplement their groceries.

I've shot a few 3D shoots over the years where some of the trad guys were shooting just as good, if not better, than me with my compound. I don't know how they do it, but some of these guys are GOOD.

I agree wholeheartedly with the statement there's good shooters and bad shooters with all types of equipment. It's not the bow, it's the guy drawing it back.

You must hunt with better group of trad guys than I:) 20yds is the max on their accuracy and 15yds is iffy. Those guys are big on those sites as well and I'm a huge Fred Eickler and Fred Bear fan, it just not what I would hunt with. I'm new and can still count all the animals I've killed with my fingers. I don't need more of a challenge. I'm mentally challenged enough as it is. :)

Getting back on topic though. I don't appreciate them holding back Compound bow hunters use of technology that makes us better hunters just because they want us all to regress back to "the bows" they like. Most of them as you mentioned come from compound bows and switched the traditional bows. Let us have our fun and maybe after a few years will join them as well.

If they want to play indian hunters than so be it, we're not lobbying to stifle them. I want to play high powered marksmen with my bow. Run whatcha brung.

Sorry, didn't mean to high jack the thread.
I totally agree with you. There is NO need to infringe on your right to use any legal technology available. If a person doesn't want to use lighted nocks, then don't. I personally think it would be a uphill fight to get them revoked. It would be a loss of income for the state due to the Pittman/Robertson Act. That is one of the main reasons so many states are allowing crossbows now...revenue!
