Not sure if this was talked about or old news but I came on it looking for the laws in CO on lighted nocks etc.

Should this not irritate me? Traditional bow hunting club lobbying against lighted nocks in Montana because of "tradition". WTH

This means no electronic attached to our bow like lighted sites, camera or lighted nocks?

Do these guys want us to hunt with no shirt, underwear and moccasins as well?

They said "State lawmakers should reject a bill allowing bow-hunters to use lighted nocks on their arrows, because it violates the “primitive nature” of the sport, spokesmen for bow-hunting and other hunting groups said Tuesday"

"Perry said he’s not a bow-hunter, but that if the bow-hunters group has chosen to oppose the measure, their will should prevail"

Bow-hunting, other hunting groups oppose allowing lighted ?nocks? on arrows

I thought traditional bowhunting organizations were too busy fighting against crossbows to care about lighted nocks?

It's a total crock IMO. If nothing else lighted nocks actually serve to enhance the sport and create better recovery rates as they leave little guess as to where you hit your target. Why someone would waste their energy fighting against something so small is beyond me.

Sucks having to remove them every year going to CO. Don't see point of not being able to use them.

I still shoot traditional bows for targets, I used to build them, and was one of those guys that thought compounds were cheating. Then I realized how intolerant that attitude was. Trad guys (hardcore ones) just constantly bash anything they don't consider "traditional"; compounds, lighted nocks, sights, even replaceable blade broadheads. I had one guy tell me at a trad 3-D shoot that since I shot aluminum arrows and used a bow quiver that I wasn't traditional. It's crazy. Fred Bear loved bow quivers and used fiberglass and aluminum arrows, guess he wasn't traditional either...

Its like muzzle loader guys trying to keep scopes off rifles. If you like ML great don't screw up the guys with higher powered rifles.

I'd love to shoot a traditional bow but not at the cost of the technology of a compound bow.

Easy solution, boycott the state and don't hunt there.

But do you guys feel like they are really stabbing us in the back or something?

I was going to join a traditional bow club just because I thought we were all in this together but no it seems like its their TRADITIONAL bow hunting or none.

I've been a "Traditional" shooter for +-50 years. I always enjoyed the commeraderie of traditional shoots. Everyone was always willing to help one another and shared their bows all around. Lately I'm seeing more and more elitist attitudes in the traditional community. Bowhunting is now broken up into factions it appears, compound, crossbow, traditional and primitive. Don't we all want about the same thing, the joy of flinging an arrow at a target and hitting the mark or making a clean kill on the quarry hunted?

Cant we all just get along? sure i use a compound bow and lighted knocks with carbon arrows but do i think its "cheating" no do i think its "nontraditional" yes. but im not gonna set back and let years of improvements in technology go to waste because its not traditional. someday if i ever loose the excitememnt of bowhunting and need more of a challenge then yea ill shoot traditonal. but i wont tell everyone that new techlology should be illegal? thats crazy! i dont think cross bows should be illegal, do i own one no. and i probably never will. i dont even shotgun hunt anymore do i tell everyone that uses a gun they are a bunch of pansys, no. so telling me that my lighted nocks should be illegal is BS!

Talking to chenango Dave about his Falconry his he could make the same argument to primitive bow hunters that their bows are to modern. Catch a hawk and train it to hunt with you:)

Agreed. Can't we all just get along? After all, it's us against the anti's.

I have no opinion on the lighted nock issue but you should be aware that P&Y also has a rule against them. If you want your deer to be recognized you can't have any electronic device attached to the bow or arrow. In my opinion it is sad that a trophy animal would not be recognized because of the type of nock a hunter has on the arrow.

Sadly, many stick bow guys are like the fly fishing elitist crowd. The WBH has lost many members over the fanatical stick bow faction. No worries, pitch a small tent.

The only thing a lighted nock does is help you see where your arrow hits on the animal better. As many threads that are started on people losing deer to several different factors I think these should be encouraged to use. Anything that can help aid in the recovery of a deer should be used IMO. I really don't understand the problem with it. P & Y means nothing to me because of their stance against it.

I need to check Idaho to see if they outlaw it for elk. Some rules such as only allowing a fixed broadhead are good rules as this is one that baffles me that they actually spend their time on it.

The elitist in several different groups always drive me nuts as others have already mentioned. Funny mentioning fly fishing, because they are truly in the category of thinking they are above other fisherman. I fly fish too, but have no problem with other peoples choices to fish or hunt.

In Britain Bow hunting is illegal because they feel it wounds to many animals from bad shots and does not kill them quick enough.

Now you think that came about from tradition and primitive bow hunters or ones using high powered and very accurate compound bows?
