Does anyone else think the Vikings should look to trade AP?

If you take out Mike Wallace who I doubt will be back at 12 million dollars for how he performed AP makes almost twice as much as the next highest player on the team. I do think he is one of the greatest running backs of all time but for that money and his age and the most important reason third down I think the Vikings have to do anything they can to get him off the team. There is no doubt third down is your most important down and if you can not put the highest paid player on the field when the game matters the most then you are wasting your money IMO.

Depends what you will get for him. I would strongly consider it at his age now. Some team that thinks they can make a run at the SB would probably talk. Having said that, running backs are a dime a dozen and everyone knows AP doesn't have many elite years left if any.

I'm not sure. I think we should give McKinnon the ball more though and Line had big plays just about every time he touched the ball.

Who do you think we could/should get for him? Draft someone (I don't follow incoming guys at all; there very well may be no one coming in the draft)?

Serviceable running backs are easy to find. If you can plug some other holes in your team for the long term and get one of those serviceable running backs it would be a good idea IMO.

In the modern NFL (pass first) a running back that can not pick up a blitz, run accurate routes and catch the ball, and be on the field on 3rd down does not have much value after age 30. AP is a great runner, he is not a great Running Back.

Lets also remember that running backs typically only last 4 years in the NFL. Using high draft picks is not a good team building methodology IMO.

Not to mention AP fumbles a bit more than he should. He is a double edged sword.

I would like to see them spend that money on the offensive line and draft a couple backs in the mid rounds to find a replacement. I don't care what they get for him really to get the cap money back. If they could get a second round pick for him I think they should jump on it but I wouldn't turn down a third or fourth either.

AP will not be traded because of his 13 million $ salary for next year, he could easily be cut and then sign with another team.

That's why I think McKinnon should get more touches.

His playoff fumbling problem is an issue, just look at his last two playoff games.

His whole year fumbling is a HUGE issue... Really do not understand how he can fumble as much as he does.

Absolutely, to any team but the Bears, Lions, Cowboys, Giants, Texans, Colts, Seahawks, Falcons, Eagles, Redskins, Jags, or Titans.

That's a tough question to answer, he's definitely not worth the money they are paying him but teams are still stacking the box when he's on the field. With a semi decent QB and offensive line, this should be a huge advantage.

You can bet that the offensive line issues will be addressed in free agency and/or the draft, I wouldn't be opposed to keeping him around for one more year to see the effect.

Cutting Wallace will free up lots of cap money for immediate free agency spending

I like AP, but I think its time to move on. Teddy clearly plays better out of the shotgun and he is what this team is hoping to build around. Unfortunately AP cant run out of the gun, isn't overly great at blocking, not great at pass catching, and isnt happy when he gets few carries in a game. AP had more runs for zero yards or negatives this year than I can remember, and although he was the rushing leader, he had 37 more carries than Doug Martin, that's almost 2 full games worth of carries! He should have been the rushing leader. At 31, I think its time to move on, unless he somehow accepts a lesser role and learns to be a pass catcher.

I would keep him for 1 more year that way he can fumble away the game to GB and the Packers can bring the trophy home again. [IMG]

The Jets will be in the market for a RB. Would love to see AP in green and white!
