Hey guys, I am definately digging the whole trad deal, I want the setup to look real trad if you know what I mean. So my first question is are those old zwickies (sp??) good heads? I am really hoping that I can be ready by turkey season with the trad gear. Its a long shot but I will try like heck. And whats an affordable quiver to put on the bow, I have seen the martin quiver that I thought was pretty cool.

Those old Zwickies have killed a LOT of BIG game around the world! Some of the greats shot these heads and still do! As for the bow quiver, I'm not a big fan of having a quiver on my bow! Just didn't like it, I like the bare bow so to speak! Now the quiver I use it the Safari Tuff Arrowmaster, I like this because I can carry many a lot of arrows. When I'm hunting I have 5 arrows with broad heads and 4 or 5 arrows with Judos or blunts for small game. My deer hunt can turn into a squirrel hunt in the blink of an eye, hence all the small game arrows!

Zwickey's are an excellent route for a 2 blade BH, one of the better BH's In my opinion strength wise. As far as quivers there are a bunch of them out there. Do you have tapped holes In your riser for a quiver? If not they make a bunch of other quivers that can be attached by straps also. Check out 3rivers archery. Delta makes some nice quivers too.

    K thanks guys,

Hey I dont want to start another thread for this ? but I was out shooting just now and I noticed I get a left tail kick out of my arrows, I have mainly been shooting in a decently lit barn and now that it was sunny I could definately tell I get a kick. I didnt think I did at first but I can definately see it now. I have 125gr tips on my arrows would going up to 150 probably cure my kick?

2 things to check, you nock fit on the string, you don't want them to tight, the "snap" nocks will do this to your arrows, kinda a false reading if you will! Also, tweaking your fingers on the string can give the same false readings, your kinda of twisting the string, to much torque! You can try to bump up the tip weight as much as you can to see if you can get them to straighten out or kick the other way, them you know its the spine, if not it could be one of the two things I mentioned!

GMMAT I dont get any porposing (sp?) from my arrows just the left kick, I tried split fingers, three under and flight was the same on botht And it was shot w/ fletched arrows, putting the cock feather out, I dont have any unfletched.

BHF I dont have the slightest clue about release form but I put the stirng in th first crease fo my fingers, then draw to where my middle finger hits corner of my mouth and then try to slowly relax them while pulling back. It feels pretty good but I dont know if this is even remotely the right way to do it.

Shultzy: my arrows are 29 1/4 from end of shaft to end of shaft and 29 3/4 from end of shaft to throat of knock. I am using the Easton XX75 2016s with a 125 gr field tip. Bow is 45 at 28 and my compound draw is a 29 so I dont know exaclty where my RC draw is.

Just make sure your hand is in line with the string, not twisting it! For me I have to slightly turn my wrist clockwise away from my face in order to not tweak the string!

Hmm, that arrow set up sounds like It should be close. Ever try shooting 1916's? Maybe the added tip weight will straighten your arrow out too trying 150 grain tips. In reality though by adding tip weight and straightening your arrow flight I'd say your hiding something that Isn't right whether It's some sort of form problem or possibly something else. What about your brace height, what you at? Is It at the recommended brace height?

Yea bh is at 8 1/4 suggested is 7 1/2 to 8 1/2. I bet you guys are absolutely right w/ form flaw, I bet if you guys could watch my form you would all turn red and stomp and yell. But I dont know any trad shooters around here so I am going to experiment and learn.

I've used Zwicky 2 and 4 blade broadheads for years and it's still my favorite.

I like the snuffers but you really need someone down range (safe spot) because with some set-ups they whistle.

I haven't shot any game with it yet but I like the looks of the 160 grain Ribteks. I tried them on both 100 and 120 grain steel bh adapters and they shot very well.

Woods, thats called the "Hiss of Death", I shot my buck this year with a snuffer, he had no idea my snuffer was coming at him! Broadside, double lung, ran 10 yards and fell over dead! I was pretty impressed with the head but not impressed on how sharp I can get them. Something I'm going to work on, I find the WW easier to sharpen!

Zwickey's are very good BH and have been around for a long time. Grizzly's are also very old and very good, though sharpening them is different because they are single bevel. I have tried the magnus Snuffer's and although they are a very good BH I don't like how they sharpen. 3 Rivers and Kustom King have a very good selection of traditional BH. A two blade BH is the easiest to sharpen.

As far as a quiver I am very partial to a Delta. I don't shoot with a quiver on my bow, I only use a bow quiver to carry my arrows to my stand. For stump shooting and other practice I use a back quiver.

Yeah I would love to glue a few Zwickeys on some wood arrows and give it a go this season! We'll see if it pans out! laminated birch would be nice!

I haven't heard much good about the laminated birch, have you ever used them?
