I shot a young Buck last night. seemed to be a good hit, but ended up tracking anyway. I followed the blood trail for nearly half a mile and my batteries were dying and I was going to have no light. it was late and I marked the last blood spot and returned home. I plan to continue the track at 1st light. I am sure I will find this buck, but it will be hours between shooting him, and recovery. how long before the meat spoils.

Biggest factor is the temperature outside. In warm temperatures i would say 24hours is pushing it. Colder weather near freezing youll be alright between 24-36 hours. In my area a deer wouldn't make it that long without coyotes getting into it. Good luck with the recovery

The meat wont spoil if you find him the next day.

If you find him, get the guts out and cool the inside as fast as possible. You will want to hang the deer or meat at a temp less than 45 degrees also as soon as possible. What's your high and low temps today and tomorrow? Do u have access to a butcher or meat locker?
