So lets say you make a bad shot on a deer, find blood and are tracking. If you have to give it up till the next day, how long do you consider the meat on the deer is still good? 12hr 24hr 48hrs? Or say you shoot a deer in the AM and have to get to work and come back that night to find it. I know a lot depends on weather but lets say the lows are in the mids and highs in the 40s?

I would say 24hrs at the max at that temp if the coyotes don't get it. That would be my preference.

I would say between that 12-24hrs. Then again you have to take in to consideration if you gut shot it the bacteria in the stomach may contaminate the meat even faster.
