Went out for 3 hours tonight and just as my dog and I were headed back to the truck she decided it'd be a good idea to try make friends with a porcupine! So after an hour of us trying to get them out at home with no luck, we have to take her to the Vet. in the morning. I'd guess she has around 75 to 100 quills in her nosey nose. I bet she wishes she wasnt so friendly with everything she encounters in the woods! POOR PUPPY!:(
It was a young porcupine so the quills are mostly dark. (hard to see)

Ouch !! We don't have that problem here. I have only seen 2 in the 20 some years I've been living here.

Dang that sucks, we ran into a porky a few weeks back while shedding..right after we had picked up a great 7x side to a big buck my bud and I each found one side too.. we figured the 7x side that was chewed on pretty good was a product of that porky.

Yea I'm sure it was Shed! Sounds like some awsome antlers you found! Do you have any pictures posted of that set? I'd love to see them!

    Poor pup!

One of the reasons I like Fishers so much is that they are specialized porky killers :tu:

Oh really! I didn't realize they killed porcupines! Wow! I'll never trap them again! I wonder how they do it without getting quilled to death?

They basically run circles back and forth until they have an opening to attack the face. If a porkey can wedge itself face first in a hole or perhaps a crook at the base of a large tree, it's safe. If not, the fisher wins!

Fishers are guaranteed to know the every porkey den in their territory. Very cool creatures (along with martens, weasels, etc...).

Poor pup is right... ouch! I've never seen a porky around where I live, but my dog is real friendly with the skunks. You can probably guess were that goes.
