My friend bought his son a Diamond Edge and the plan is to have him in the deer woods next fall so my questions for those of you with kids that bowhunt is what was the total weight of the arrow? What grain broadhead? Any thing you've tried that didn't work out?

    24" draw 35lbs
Gold tip expedition hunter arrows 500 spine 210 grains (excluding broadhead/field point)
    Broadheads? Thinking about Magnus stingers

35lbs is the legal hunting draw weight we'll see if he can draw more than that come the fall but I want to just figure on him shooting at 35lbs for now

My son hunted at those specs and got a passthrough. It was actually 38#.

He used an aluminum 1716 tipped with a magnus 4 blade (2 blade with bleeders) 100 gr.

Seems like his arrow weight was around 360 gr finished weight. This was with feathers and I highly recommend them for light setups and slow speeds

500 is a little too stiff for that setup and would reccomend either the aluminum 1716 (I still have some) or an axis 600 (which is still stiff)

Thank you for the response but Curious as to why you recommend feathers. And did you have him shoot the aluminum for the added weight or was it just because you were trying to obtain the correct spine?

Also are you looking to sell those aluminum 1716? If so how many do you have and what would you want for them? I don't know if he'd be looking to buy them but if they're available I'll be sure to let him know.

Feathers stabilize better and arrows need more stabilization at slower speeds. Plus they will aid in a passthrough and not hang up in the animal.

I probably still have a dozen or so uncut and some made up 1716 that I might sell. Not sure about pricing yet.

I chose them for cost and spine.
