You sir would be correct. No state income tax but they do have a higher sales tax than ours here in GA.

I see Tressell has asked for the same suspension as the Tat 5 and got it. So he's now suspended for the first 5 games next season instead of just the first 2. Personally I think that is a great PR move by him and tOSU and may even take a little sting out of the NCAA hammer.

The last player who lied to the NCAA got a year off. It's a hope and a prayer by tOSU.

I say the NCAA forgets about what Tressel wants and gives him the appropriate sanction. :) "Hey, I know I committed murder, sooooo I am going to give myself 5 years behind bars and everything is cool, ok?"

Did you really just compare his infraction to murder?

Even if he got a year suspension (he won't) it wouldn't help the UM's desperate wish for a W on Nov. 26th in the outhouse. :whip:

I think it was an analogy, not a comparison.

Buckeye, you remember my stance on this issue in terms of how serious I believe this infraction to be (minimal-avg). My point above is one based on the principle of the matter. If you are the rule breaker, you DO NOT get to choose your sanction. An outside body (NCAA) gets to choose. That was point. I would consider Tressel's infraction to be somewhere between improper driving and reckless driving. :)

Tressel's 5 is a desperate attempt at saving his rear, I don't see how the NCAA can hammer a player for a year and not do the same or worse for a coach. The coaches are supposed to be held to a higher standard than the players, this could get ugly before it's over. I personally hope he doesn't lose his job over it... mostly because our coach is probably high on that list.

During a self report, a university imposes sanctions to its self, players or staff. In tOSU's case they imposed a 2 game suspension and 250,000 fine onto Tressel. Tressel in turn bumped the self imposed suspension to 5 games minimum after the appeal process for the tat5.

This isn't Tressel choosing his sanction from the NCAA, this was Tress choosing his minimum sanction from the Ohio State University.

Ok, I guees OSU is allowing Tressel to choose, that is their option. The option he will not receive is choosing a sanction from the NCAA if they so choose to enact their sanction. You don't go in front of a judge and choose anything, they tell you.

I was going to turn myself in for murder, but I wasn't sure who I was suppose to tell.

I know we'll never hear it, but one day, I would love an honest response in a situation like this...

"Yeah, I know I should have told the AD or the NCAA...but we had a pretty good team. Some of our best players were involved in this. I knew the players would get suspended. Our season would have been trashed. BUT, I kept it quiet and we ended up winning a BCS game. I wish I hadn't got caught, but it was still worth it."

Thanks... Now I know in the future, you are qualified to answer questions for VA.

For future reference is VA also qualified to answer questions posed to you? :D

EXACTLY what I was thinking....plus add in this "little" fact.

    Citi Rose Bowl
Date: Jan. 1 at 5:10 p.m. on ESPN
Venue: Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif.
Matchup: Big Ten vs. Pac 10
    Projected payout: $17 million

tOSU went to the Sugar bowl... Wisconsin went to the Rose bowl. Even though that is the payout for the game, the Big Ten evenly distributes the money amoungst all members of the league. So that 17 million would have been split 11 ways.

I feel ya there Buckeye, there are times I'm ready to see him go. NE just can't afford to go through another transition right now.
