Exactly! All Yahoo! did was report it because of a leak that let them know about it.

If you can't take what happened and let your mind wander as to what COULD happen (if situations like the players were involved in were allowed).....................then I can't help you.

If you can, you know why the rule is in place.

If he is, he certainly isn't telling anyone. From yesterday's press conference...

"I don't think less of myself at this moment," Tressel said.

I find it a little odd he didn't admit any wrong doing, or apologize. Didn't he read the handbook for press conferences after you get caught doing something you aren't suppose to be doing? Or was it sitting under the NCAA rule book he also forgot to read?

I'm in the who cares camp. This smells like a witch hunt to me. Also, in my SEC circles, Tressel is largely viewed as a man of character. I'm betting 75% or more of all programs are not completely forthcoming to the NCAA about all possible violations.

First and foremost, I AM an OSU fan, and the fact that I've BASHED them only shows that I'm not so enamored that I can't see the forest for the trees........

I think you're not seeing the real point of the whole issue. The possessions they sold were AWARDS given to them, we're not talking about possessions they purchased with their own money, we're talking about awards. Trophies if you will. If your Grand-dad gives you his old trusty but rusty single shot shotgun that his pappy gave him and you go and sell it, I bet he'd want to plant his boot in your behind..... Different but alike, these guys sold stuff that was given to them, and in my VERY HONEST OPINION, it shows some great disrespect for the awards and those who gave the awards to them. Winning is only important to me if I know I played the game the right way as well. I don't want to win because and official blew a call....and I'd almost rather lose because an official made a bad call than win.

My issues with OSU were all GENUINELY heart felt. Remember when I said they really didn't look like the #1 team in the country, and the next week they got their asses handed to them by Wisconsin???? I said that because in my assessment they didn't look like the BEST TEAM in the country, not because I wanted to bash the Buckeyes. I like them, I'm just objective enough to see it for what it really is.

If I criticized Terrell Prior or Troy Smith it's because in my assessment, they weren't as good as the accolades they were receiving, not because I don't like OSU. Again, it has more to do with being able to objectively look at something.

I said CAM NEWTON was hands down the HEISMAN WINNER in my assessment, most voters saw it that way as well. Cam Newton did something wrong at Florida, and Urban Meyer dealt with him, as would be appropriate, I can't honestly say the same for Jimmy Tressel now can I????

With or without Tress, OSU will survive. A TOP NAME coach would LOVE the opportunity at that job, and a TOP NAME COACH could do just as well, I have no doubts. Tressel WAS a second rate coach when he showed up on the scene in the eyes of many, but the draw of playing at THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY pulls lots of players in, even if the coach had NEVER coached a D1 game before. Adding to this, Tressel was also a former Athletic Director @ YSU, so we can be rest assured he KNEW what he was doing when he withheld that info.....now can't we??? :jaw:

I think to me it's the CALCULATED withholding of that information that torques me the most, especially in light of his "do the right thing" message he often delivers. In all honesty, I'd rather see the team lose 3 of their top 10 players and go 8-4 than be breaking the rules and looking like "Blue Mountain State" in the eyes of the general public. (I know that's an exaggeration, but it drives the point home.)

And again, I digress but Maurice Clarret said Tressel KNEW what was going on with him before he (Clarret) got in trouble as well. But being that Clarret's character was already suspect everyone believe Tressel...... Just sayin' it looks a little more suspicious now.....

Self reported the violation when he KNEW it was about to be unearth whether he admitted to it or not....

Let's be HONEST here Scott, if he knew about this stuff last April, and didn't do something then, did he self-report, or did he "self-report" ahead of getting caught....????

Again, a matter of "not seeing the forest for the trees???" Or maybe "Not seeing the forest for the Tress???"

Look at the Facts and Tressels view

He found out in April and did nothing to protect his players from drug dealers

Claimed he did not know in Dec when he could have came cleaned, because the "danager" was over, so why not come clean.

Tressel only came clean because OSU was doing an internal investigation and found the emails.

Something is not adding up here to me, and this is far from over.

Hahahahaha! Good stuff. I also hear Roger Clemems thinks Barry Bonds is a man of character.

The best part about all this...... It shows just how much tOSU means to some of you guys. To take time out of your day to bash and criticize only shows how relevant tOSU is to you.

    For that I thank you.

I can post up the biff cartoon again, if you want.

It's not bashin' on OSU that entertains me. It's stirrin' up the homers.

I have not noticed anywhere, something you have said that has stirred up any OSU homers.... Guess you aren't trying hard enough.

I really don't get too fanatical about any sports team. I realize they're all fallible (and so are their leaders). I also don't gloss over NCAA infrations like they didn't and don't occur.

    Homers do that.

So does that make me a AJ Green homer? A Reggie Bush homer or any one else? Because I didn't bash them or their circumstances either

If you haven't noticed, I don't bash on people.... It's just not me.

Nobody's asking anyone to bash on anyone (that I can see).

People are just trying to discuss the infractions at hand. What would you call dismissing them....or, even condoning them (the infractions)?

I don't lose any sleep over any sports team/player. It's just a game. But, it has rules.
