any experience with top secret brand scent defense?
field spray, laundry, body wash? supposedly kills human scent while repelling skeeters, ticks, and all kinds of other insects. curious to what it smells like?? it says deer love the scent..? never understood how something kills scent while it smells like something.

I used it last year and killed a mature doe that walked right down my scent drag line to where I hung it in a tree. Had a couple young bucks come in to it but no mature bucks! I used the foaming stuff!

I can't say that I know a lot about them. I met the owner at Rogers Sporting Goods a few weeks back. He's very enthusiastic about his product and it sounds like they are dropping a fortune in advertising the product this year. Advertising on over 150 hunting shows. He wasn't promoting the scent defense at the time, so I don't really know anything about any of that, but some of the things he was saying about the scents made some sense, but I'm always a little leary of companies the dump huge amounts of cash into the advertising. Especially on brand new products with no established user base.

Vanilla is actually a very good insect repellent that deer are very fond of :tu:

So my curiosity got to me and I order a 3 component starter kit two days ago. And to my surprise received it today. Smells exactly like citronella. I wasn't aware deer are attracted to citronella. Kind of Leary about using it. Any thoughts ?

I have used gallons of deer urine over the years and would have to say from my own experience, it's not that good of a scent to use. Deer are peeing in the woods by the gallon every day so I believe it has a "so what " appeal to deer. On the other hand, I have only used about 3 oz of pre-orbital / forehead scent over the last 5 years and got much better results by far.

I wouldn't trust half the crap that is advertised on hunting shows.
