yes I have blown it at times.. usually its a too far back or too high hit.. most of the time I still make the kill but it's not always the perfect shot

buck fever induced target panic.... I have suffered from that many times, unfortunately its a situation that is IMPOSSIBLE to duplicate during practice, anyone find anything that works well to combat this?

A few years ago I missed 2 mature bucks in one season. Completely makeable shots. I backtracked my form. Moved over to a thumb release because it forces me to slow down and pressure the release instead of slapping a trigger.

And most imprtantly...I watched so many hunting videos and envisioned all my buck encounters like that...high energy, music, drama that when it was time for me to kill one my brain started thinking that way. Stressed...moving tol quick. I retrained myself mentally after those two misses. I still get rattled but when a buck comes in I clear my mind and focus on just the moment. Nothing else. No high energy. No what texts Im gonna send. I stay in the moment mentally so my movements are calm even when under the most stress.

My meltdowns are when you are at full draw and the buck starts moving quick- I find it really hard to not pull the trigger at the first opening. Once I draw I am locked and ready to rock- takes all my self control not to force the shot if one presents at all.

I know that is a personal fault and I do my best to resist temptation.
