Moss had 1400 yards and 22 TDs with Brady. Far from "average". I hear ya though..he won Super Bowls with Dieon Branch and Troy Brown.
I understand your point but Young did start 19 games at Tampa. He didn't do well there but it was an awful team at that time. He played in the USFL before that as they offered him a huge contract out of college of which he is still making $ from today.
I get what you are saying but the problem I see with your theory is this: Did Belichick or Bill Walsh have any success as NFL head coaches before getting Brady or Montana? I would say no. You cannot coach someone into being a Tom Brady or Joe Montana...they are special players
