I hunt fairly close to base camp so I don't take a bag, the essentials go in my pockets. 1. Knife - so I can cut myself down if I'm hanging from my harness 2. Phone - so I can call someone to cut me down if I can't 3. Headlamp 4. Grunt call 5. Binoculars I suppose it all depends how far, how remote, and how long you will be out. If I were walking a mile in to hunt I would bring a pack with more survival gear, fire starter, emergency blanket, etc.
