Well I went to visit my dad in Lubbock Texas this past week. Drove all the way from Lubbock up across the Red River into Ardmore, Oklahoma where my aunt lives. All I can say is....it was beautiful! Did a lot of fishing and saw some great looking property. Caught a 5.5 pound bass at Lake Allen Henry along with 6-7 other nice bass. It looks like there is about 1 house per 100 acres in Oklahoma/Texas as compared to northern Virginia and 100 houses per 1 acre. It was incredible. Got an offer to hunt on a thousand acre or so organic farm if I choose to make the call....not sure if I will ever be able to do it, but I may just call my dad's friends up and tell them I will be bowhunting OK deer in the fall b/c the scenery was just fantastic and the people were downright nice as could be all week. You guys that live out there sure are lucky!

Wait a minuet, you said you started in Lubbock, and then you said it was pretty country.:busted:
Tell me that those flattened out cotton crops didnt do much for in the way scenery. But then when you hit that first break after Lorenzo, its like God spent a little extra time on it .

Glad you liked it VS, I always enjoy seeing different country. Too bad you didn't make it to SE OK, that's the prettiest part of the state IMO.

Yeah...I drove across the entire state of Texas last week, and I don't really know what you are talking about. West Texas is The Nothing, as well as West Oklahoma.

Now don't get me wrong, there are some nice places in West Texas/Oklahoma, but I like a little diversity with my land :d

Zach, yeah the scenery changed for the better about an hour or so North of Lubbock....the rock formations were fantastic!

Here is one of the bass I caught.

I have to agree, out west is beautiful, but you do have to be in the right area. Awesome fish by the way.

Good deal, they're all beautiful places in their own right. If you do make it back to Oklahoma, hit me up... the place I hunt a lot is about 25 minutes from Ardmore.

Thanks Dubbya, I might be able to make it back out there next year about this time. I had a great time and the 5 hour drive from Lubbock to Ardmore didn't seem too long considering there was no traffic at all.
