Monday morning I had two gobblers coming into my decoys and made it to 28 yards when a coyote walked onto the ridge and spoiled my fun. Tuesday morning I had a single strutter coming straight into the decoys at 40 yards when a strong gust of wind flopped one side of my double bull blind. Game over. (my fault for not tieing the blind). Wednesday I have three different gobblers work the set-up but never completely commit. They walk within range but just far enough over the edge of the ridge top to only offer head shots. No shot. So I am beginning to wonder how may turkeys I have to call in to finally get a shot. I cant hunt Thursday due to work and Friday it finally all came together. I had several birds within 150 yards on the roost and the first one down strutted all the way into my two stuffed hen decoys. 17 yard broadside shot and dumped him in his tracks. It can be so hard and then so easy. You just never know. I guess thats what keeps me coming back. Good luck everyone.
Awesome, Congrats! The birds up here in northern Idaho just aren't doing much yet. They'll answer hen yelps but just are too interested yet. Going out in the morning too see what we can make happen.
