I am in a new stand and its pretty windy out. Mind you I am new to bow hunting and I am just curious if I am wasting my time being out tonight or if you think I may have a chance at seeing some deer. I have had some decent deer on the cam about 50 yards south of where I am at. What are your thoughts or concerns or words of advice ? I have hunted on some pretty windy days and have been successful. I think the most important thing is whether or not it is a favorable wind for your stand?

As long as the wind is in your favor i'd hunt but be careful not to make long shots, wind has a big factor the further your shot.

I am in the same situation right now. Wind direction is crucial but we also had a 30 degree temp drop which will hopefully get them moving.

I don't worry about wind speed anymore. In the past, I killed two does within 30 seconds, all with sustained winds over 30 mph (gusts were over 40 mph). The wind was so loud, the second doe didn't even realize the first doe was running away bleeding :tu:

I'm glad you posted this. I'm in northern illinois, hunted yesterday and the wind was so bad I was gonna leave, ended up going into our box blind to get out of the rain (100 yards away) ended up seeing a 6 point and a massive buck that we don't have on camera yet chasing each other, then pretty confident I heard them fighting. Bottom line I think hunting is being at the right place at the right time, and if you can withstand the weather the deer sure as hell can.
