Went to the hunting property that is a couple hours south of me and put out a few trail cameras in new areas that we are wanting to see if deer are moving through them. I admit we are late getting the cameras out, we usually put them out in May and check them once a month until November. Any way, is July too late to put them out?
There is no "right time". Everyone's situation is unique, but generally, most of the bucks I'm getting right now will be scarce or gone once the velvet sheds. Things will change again when the acorns begin to drop. But as far as summer patterns go, you're right on time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just got mine out last week. Got them set up mostly over mineral and food plots. Usually change as the season progresses to scrapes or heavy trails Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
24/7 365 days a year. Now is the best time to get an idea of the racks in the area. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I just put mine out a week ago. The hard part is waiting till mid-August to go check them. Its like Christmas morning when i get to check them and see what bucks I get to go after.
Like others have said there isn't a right time to put cameras out, but don't over check them once you do. If you do, they can cause more harm than good.
Heck no. Bucks don't even start to show up on my main farm until the last week of October or so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The property I have them on is 2 hours away so I only go check them every 3 or 4 weeks before season, then I'll check them the few times I'm actually down there hunting.
Now that the bucks are showing some full development in their antler growth it's a great time I think. Pretty sure if I put them out now they won't be there when I go back. I pretty much know what's in the area and kind of like not knowing "exactly" what's there. I usually run cameras after the season closes until they shed so I can see what made it through the season.
I seldom put mine out until about now. I like to wait and see what the bucks are instead of guessing what they might turn into. I figure July to March is long enough to mess with them. Put them out and have fun.
