I guess my question is it to late to start mock scrapes? I have been seeing and reading all the activity on the forums about mock scrapes and I wanted to give it a try so I figured I go to my lease this weekend and give it a try. My next question is where to put it on my particular piece I'm hunting. My stand is located on an old logging going road that over looks a about 1/4 acre of clover and oats. This road travels downhill and I'm set up right at the mouth of the corridor and the deer funnel out from woods below. I would post trail picture cameras on here but there at my brothers house and just show the lay out but I think you get the idea. Any suggestions?

Definitely not too late. That logging road would be a great spot. Just look for overhanging branches that are about head high. Good luck!

I've just always heard you want to do it in the summer so deer get accustom to the area and scrape and they continue to use it. I Was ill prepared last season and want to be prepared as I can be this season.

Never too late and never too early IMO. If you wait til the first of November you may be disappointed some if they don't visit because they are too busy running does.

I just started one last week and put a camera on it today. I don't have much luck at, but location is key!

I started mine in mid July and they are just now starting to hit them on a regular basis. Right now is the time to start them as the velvet will soon be coming off and fall ranges are established. Lots of good tips on here but remember that scent control is huge in the mock scrape game! Good Luck!!!

I started one today. It is my first time trying them so I'm excited to see what happens.
