So a few days ago I was blundering around on www.bowjax.com. I saw these: Comes as a set. 26.99 (One for each end of the riser) Available in Black only. So naturally I looked around for anything else I might need and ended up with these: Nice ornament for the end of my Octane Stabilizer. Comes two to a pack for 12.99. Colors are available. I have seen these on other's bows and wondered what they were like. Comes as a set. (One for each limb) 12.99 Naturally, I ordered two of everything with the intentions of "Jax'in the Air Raid when it arrived. I recently added a red limb driver to my setup and cycled the black on to the on deck circle for the Air Raid, so I ordered red Monster Jax for the limbs on the 101st. Black on the rest of the stuff as red wasn't available in the RizrJax and the Monster Jax comes two to a set. To my surprise, the guys at Bowjax sent me a free red Monster Jax and some string silencers to play with too. My honest assessment: They make a noticable difference in bow sound and vibration. (not that either was in high supply before hand) Rob shoots with me more than anyone and he noticed this straight away. Here are some pics of the actual bow. I may actually end up putting the black on the end of the Octane, I am just not sure yet. Also, I need to give my main man Bloodcrick props on the red sharpy deal as I did that the other night as well. SS Hardware upgrade, red sharpy treatment, a new red LD, and Jax'd up, heck the 101 is getting pimped like she was new. ] I apologize for the lighting. Peace boys.
And I thought it looked sick last week. I can't wait to see that thing up close. Think I'm gonna have to learn how to shoot left handed soon.
Is there a difference in the rubber, or compound, for the red/black versions? Is one different from the other? How did they secure to the riser? Is there a round hole they go through, or can it fit through any shape? The reason I ask is, the air raid did not appear to have any rounded holes in the riser? I may be wrong on that.
I gotta say, I was/am impressed with what these "Jax" did to eliminate what little noise Ben's 101 had. We had a shoot off for silence against a Guardian and an Admiral. It was all very close.
That is one very sweeeeeet looking bow buddy, you got me curious. I may have to check into these "jax's" I am workin on pimpin out the 82nd and the riser jax look sweet. I think I am gonna have to make an order for them tonight. I might even get some SS screws as well and color mine with blue to match the blue/black grip and blue/brown/black strings.
Again... How did they secure to the riser? Is there a round hole they go through, or can it fit through any shape? The reason I ask is, the air raid did not appear to have any rounded holes in the riser? I may be wrong on that.
Thanks BM. They are definately cool and work. On the SS screw front, TEmbry gave me a GREAT link. www.boltdepot.com There is a smallish open ended machine screw type thing that threads into both pieces. Any hole will work. For 27 bucks, these things are a must.
Beautiful set up Ben! Do you use this setup for hunting too? I ask because I am between the 7" octane and the bigger one that you have. Also, I am between the shorter (adjustable) viper predator and the model you have. What was your reason for going with the longer instruments? Do you find them to be fragile and "annoying" in the field? Again, I can see using them for target, but I was not sure if you hunted with them as well. Just curious on your findings.
bowhunter546: Thanks. Yes, this rig is a working bow. Spent nearly 150 hours in the woods this year. I don't hang stands in tight spots that would affect the stabilizer in regards to the extra 4.5 inches. Believe me, there is nothing "fragile" about the Viper Predator. If anything I think it's more durable than it's hunting designed counterparts. Don't be scared to take either out. I have an 09 Air Raid on order. I already have all of the same stuff (Viper Pred. Microtune, Limb Driver, Octane 11.5 Stab, Octane 1 pc quiver) ready to put on it when it comes. I love this set up.:d :d
Dude....I am extreme so I had to buy it all. But seriously I really think what makes the most difference are the Rizr Jax. 26 bucks......do it. PS Matt. Today I ruined my new string. What a relief to just through the old one back on. You need to get this other one from me so you can get it set up with a peep and everything on it so it is ready to go if you do need it. I just ordered another one from Dan.
Hey Ben, it keeps looking better and better That thing is freakin sweet!! Your welcome about the ss hardware and sharpie trick I think it would be cool to see a target bow (non camo) with ss hardware and say blue or green sharpie trick!! your looking good bro!! Note Ben::: If you need to get down in those allen head recesses with color, just get a small model paint brush, roll it on the sharpie and get it good and wet, then just insert into holes and twist around!! You will have color all through
