Tonight I finally get to hunt a stand I have been waiting all year to hunt. (Update)

I picked out a stand early this spring during a scouting walk on the farm I hunt. I put up the stand in June. I will be sitting along a tree line with standing corn behind me and beans out in front. I don’t have any information that deer are actually using this spot as it has been very dry here so it is tough to tell deer sign right now and I never got a trail camp there. But it seems like a perfect spot. At least by the book. I assume the deer are bedding in the corn and will come out and feed in the beans. The actual spot where my stand is a fence line funnel as well so hopefully this use that spot.
Well based on the latest data the wind is right so I am going to try it tonight. I have a good feeling about this. The only problem I see is that it is warm tonight (currently 81 deg @ 1:00pm). Wish me luck.

Well tonight turned out pretty good even though no harvest. I passed on two smaller anterless deer @ 20 yards. Never knew I was there. They fed in front of me for about 10 min and then moved on.

I also had two large does heading right for me. They came to about 50 yards and looked like they were going to cross through the fence line funnel I was posted over. I had the wind in my favor but for some reason they changed their mind and went farther up the fence line. Guess there must be at least two crossing points ;).

I will give it another shot later this week or next weekend whenever the wind is right again.

Going to give it another try tonight. Wind is going to be in my favor for this stand again.
