CRAP!!!!!! This just issued a severe T-storm watch for my area. Looks like some nasty weather is moving in.

Hunting with the little guy might have to wait till tomorrow.

That's me to a "T"... although I did get bit by the bug a little this year, so I may be ramping up my turkey hunting in the next few years.

    Update

Well we braved the predicted weather and it paid off. When we entered the field we are hunting we spotted 2 hens and a Tom at the base of the hill around 300 yards away right along the same edge we were walking in on. So we quick snuck to our blind and got set-up. Not sure if they spotted us or not.

We could not see them from our blind but about 45 min. later they appeared and crossed the field around 100 yards out from us. I tried to get the Tom to break away from the hens but no dice. He was interested as he kept walking our way until the hens got too far away from him for his own comfort and then he turned and followed.

Later in the night a single hen came out around 50 yards down from us and went out and fed.

So to me it was an extremely successful night. We had fun. My son did very well for 3 years old and we saw some birds. What more could you ask for?

We will be back at it tomorrow hopefully with better weather.

My son and I right right before we took off from a parking lot Mommy met me near my work.

And the best shot of the Tom I could get around 100 yards out.

Can't get any better than that!!

(well, other than killing something.... but that wouldn't have made it any more successful. :) )
