The reason I ask is because coming from Fort Worth, you will, ummmmmmmmmmmm, have a much harder time finding an attrative female to spend time with. If you catch my drift.
No problem. Since you keep mentioning being closer to the kids, imagine how much they would enjoy time up there. It doesn't matter where someone comes from, its hard to find one that didn't enjoy northern WI as a kid. Your kids would be in heaven.
Ha!! I was kinda thinking you were heading in that direction. Yeah, it will be a little change of scenery, I'm sure. Dan, I'm thinking along those lines as well. They will get the chance to get of of the city and I can start passing down my love of the outdoors to them. They only get to go fishing twice a year and the oldest (8) has only got to go hunting once. They show great intrest in all of it, but they don't have the opportunities to go.
I've seen the women in Fort Worth and I've seen the northern Wisconsin women. I just didn't want you to PM me in 6 months asking why I didn't warn you.
two words Billy Bob's. i'll let you figure out the rest, but i have seen some of the best in that place!!!!!!!!!
I lived in Dallas and worked in Ft. Worth for several years and love that part of the country. However, I would take this offer in a second. It is beautiful country where your looking and the fishing and hunting are great! Good luck with whatever you decide!
Tomahawk is only a little over an hour from me, and it is, as everyone said, beautiful country. We have a cabin (although not much of one anymore) about a half hour north of there, near Minocqua, which is a summer tourist trap. Anyways, yeah, tons of outdoors activities, Wausau has all of the modern amenities you would need, but avoid the Gander Mountain. Big rip off. The Fleet Farm there is much better. When you fly in, look into getting a flight into Mosinee, which is 40 minutes away but a straight shot and a nice small airport
Got offered a promotion and a pretty substantial raise if I would go up there and run the facilities maintenance for our company at the Harley plant. Uhhhhh, I thouhgt there was talk of shutting that plant down ??
Justin, I'd go for it! To me Wisconsin in general is a beautiful state and I loved the time I visited there(never been to Tomahawk). It sounds like great outdoor opportunities from those in the know. Its got to be better than what is available to us here in mine and your former county here in Illinois. Wish you the best.
There were talks that Harley was going to shut both plants in Wisconsin around 2010. Now they can't make them fast enough. That plant is not shutting down anytime soon. Waiting for the call back on what day to head up there next week. If I like the plant, people and the area, I'm going to jump on it.
If you have some extra time when you are here and want to see some of the national forest this would be a good place to look around. http://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/cnnf/maps-pubs/?cid=stelprdb5110187&width=full You would be either looking at the Medford Landbase or the Park Falls Landbase. If you plan to go to the Medford Landbase PM me and I'll send you some things to drive by and check out.
Let me see, you're in Texas now and you have a chance to get out of Texas and live in the wilderness in Wisconsin. Why are you wasting time on this forum when you could be packing?
The snow is no big deal.... in fact, I like having all 4 seasons again. I lived in the South(Georgia, Texas, Kentucky and Maryland) since 1965 when I went into the Army. I moved back to snow country in 2007 after my wife died. I kind of like snow.. I have 4 wheel drive, and ATV with a plow and I get by and I'm 68. My first year back we had over 200 inches of snow. The next about 150. THis year.... maybe only 60. If you don't want to do it yourself.... there's always some guy with a plow trying to make an extra buck.
I live 45 miles SW of Tomahawk, great area to live. Winters can get long but I really enjoy the four seasons. Harley and the paper mills are the biggest employers in that area. If you are looking to buy a home. prices are the best they have been in some time. Good luck.
Honestly Brad new construction is the slowest I have seen in 20 years. Very little going on building wise in this area.
