The guy just dismantled my Bears in a blizzard. The guy is a quarterback phenom...plain and simple.

He has to be top 5, with Favre, Manning, Elway and Montana.

I don't know what that is supposed to mean..........no one has said he's not good. I simply said to discount the system around him is misleading IMO. Too much evidence exists otherwise. Doesn't mean he isn't a tremendous talent.

It's not his first time as a a starting QB.........he played a whole year in NE where he jumped out into the highest level of sport and was wildly successful......as was Brady........as was Rothlisberger........same as Adrian Peterson, Randy Moss etc. There are plenty of players that step right into the NFL and dominate.

Sounds like you're saying the system has a lot to do with an indivduals success ;)

You say that like Belichick knew Brady would be great and he was just waiting for a chance to get the kid on the field but PR and NFL standards had his hands tied...........when the truth is Brady (as we know him today) doesn't exist if that Jet doesn't collapse Drew's lung. The Patriots have never let PR or standards keep them from doing what they want..........in fact they are known as a cold hearted business like machine, just ask Seymour, Milloy, Bledsoe, Moss, Samuel, etc.

So when Brady goes and and becomes a star it's because he is the greatest........but when Cassel goes in and does the same it's dueto outstanding coaching??

Before you get too carried away............remember I have never said Brady isn't good.......He's the man. I just think to totally dismiss the notion that Tom is a product of a great system is ignoring an obvious truth.

Proves my point exactly...............they grab players from all over the place and they thrive in the NE system. Branch is already reborn there, Welker was a cast off, Benjarvis?, Woodhead? Antowain Smith, Cassel, the list goes on and on. These players produce squat elsewhere yet when they land in NE they become stars. I guess they were all just learning to be great somewhere else as well.

Is Mike Tomlin a great coach?........or was he handed a great team?

Is Jim Caldwell a great coach?........or was he handed a great team?

Is John Gruden a great coach?........or was he handed a great team?

Why did Bill Parcells fail in Dallas and Miami after he learned how to be great in NY?

Is Larry FItzgerald great?.....then shouldn't he still be great after Boldin and Warner left?

Do you think Jerry Rice and Joe Montana were as they were or a product of the Walsh system?

Also Steve Young sat on the bench for awhile watching Montana. Sometimes it's just a matter of time before you get your shot at the starting QB position to be able to see what you really have.

Also....I've said for years...that you could learn more about the game of baseball, sitting on the bench in the major leagues....than you could - playing every day in the minor leagues.

Maybe these guys learn more under the greats (coaches and players in front of them)?

    Favre?

Every time Brett throws a ball and ANYONE ON THE FIELD catches it....he sets an NFL record. He also sets one when he drops it and someone not on his team picks it up.

Play long enough, and the bad records add up just like the good ones.

Peyton Manning is still the greatest QB of all time.

No question, he has to be one of the top QB's of all time, by the time his career is all said and done.

Whats amazing, for all of us, is this. Think about the "big 3" we have playing right now. Favre (sure he's a schmuck, but he was one of the best at his position for years) Manning, and Brady. We will all be able to say we've watched arguably the best 3 QB's to ever play the game in our lifetime.

Brady, Manning and they other great QB's have what it takes, they are quick upstairs.

Some just reach their peaks at different times. Brady, Manning seem to get better every year. While some QB were their best in college(Ryan Leaf).

No doubt NYB, Brady Is a machine. Why Is he so good? Been asking myself this question for a while. Whatever It Is he'll no doubt go down as one of the best to play the game.

Why didn't guys like Tarkenton, Kelly, Marino win any SB's? They were there enough and I know they were good enough. Dilfer won a SB with the Ravens. Right place at the right time maybe In his case?

To me championships have to be part of the equation in determing best of all time. Not sure if that's right, wrong or fair, but it's just my opinion. The reason you play (aside from a gazillion dollars) is to win and win championships. For those great QB's that didn't get it done, they are just a notch lower (not far) than the greats that have got it done. Wrong situations, talent surrounding them, not as good defense, coaching, etc.... whatever the case may be that they didn't win just makes them a little less on the totum pole when talking about best of all time. To me Montana and Brady stand above the rest of 'the QBs to ever play.

I'd agree to an extent, the only problem is the QB can't control his defense. He can rack up 35 points a game but it means nothing if the D is giving up 40.

Doesnt matter how he finishes his career, hes still one of the greatest, if not THE greatest.

Hes 5 times the QB Bradshaw was...without a doubt. Bradshaw had a pretty good ( ;) ) defense that helped his mediocre ass win 4 Super Bowls.

If you want honesty...give Favre the defense Bradshaw had and the weapons that Young/Manning/Montana had and we wouldnt even have to debate who the best QB of all time was.

Favre did the most out of the top 5-10 QB's of all time with the least...no arguement. Never had an MVP caliber player with him, and only a handful of pro bowlers in his offense (Green, Driver, Freeman).

Which brings up the point of how GOOD Brady is. Hes played with mediocre his whole career too (cept 07'...where they didnt lose..lol).

    Perfect explanation.

There are variables (Bradshaw). Terry was a good QB...but not Top 10 Great.
