Yea I really dont think chris meant to make this LEO vs Military. But he did bring up a good point about not using flashbangs in war where ROE is most likely tighter. I wonder why we don't use them more or less, did we even use them in the Bin Laden Raid?
Funny.. I know a little about both sides, yet have only heard the word "raids" come from the mouths of civilians. Where, when and with whom did you serve?
I served in 2/502nd infantry of the 101st in Iraq 2003-2004, and 2/30th infantry from 10th Mountain in Afghanistan 2006 and Iraq 2007-2009. The word raid is commonly used in the infantry so I'm not sure what you are trying to insinuate. With whom and where did you serve?
I'm insinuating that I don't believe you've ever kicked in a criminal's door in your entire life and that you should show a little more respect for those of us that have/do. Where I come from, military and LEOs have mutual respect, understanding and admiration for each other.
How about this.... thank you for your service, and you're welcome for mine. Let's not question each other's methods and tactics. Deal?
Not a criminal in the states, but many criminals/terrorist overseas. I do respect LEO in General, having some trouble respecting you since you have the audacity to question my background, and fail to reply with yours.
I'm an Officer with one of the largest Police Divisions in the midwest. My 'tour' will last for decades, in a metro area of 1.5M, that averages about 100 murders, 550 rapes and 3500 robberies per year. Thoughts??
Alright then. Have a nice a day, Chris. And do me a favor; don't judge me until you've walked a mile in my shoes.
I wasn't judging you and I acknowledge you have an extremely difficult job. I took it personally when you questioned my service and insinuated I don't have the background I do. I don't take that lightly.
Josh, I think you're going a little overboard and took his comments the wrong way. You also probably shouldn't ask someone's background of who what and where when you're unwilling to answer it yourself. There is a mutual respect between LEO and Military, but, that doesn't mean that they shouldn't ever disagree. But again, I think you should take a step back and actually read Chris' comments, I think you took them the wrong way.
Ohio is definitely more dangerous than Iraq and Afghanistan. I have been there and it is crazy, I barely made it out alive. Freaking buckeyes are not right.
And I took it personally when you implied that I (Cops) and under-trained and somehow lack the validity to use a flash grenade. I promise you I have far more training in such matters, than you ever will. I get the job done every single day, and will continue to do so for many, many years to come. Rest easy, knowing this. Again, have a nice day.
The question was not clearly answered, you indicated knowledge of the military that would make my use of the word "raid" seem suspicious. You never stated what military service you have.
No Josh, you failed to provide who you actually work for and kind of vaguely provided a description. Chris posted up his units. But I understand why you wouldn't post up yours as I never do mine for probably the same reason. On the same note, I don't ask the details to others which you asked for.
No, Chris. Read it again. I stated I know a little about both sides (military & LEO). My partner is USMC, Lima Company -maybe you've heard of them. He has 2 tours, a purple heart and 'Marine of the Year' honors (2005, I believe). Now he's a LEO and my partner & best friend. At some point, you're either going to have to accept the fact that I know what I'm talking about... or continue trying to convince yourself that you're actually the authority on this subject. Regardless, I have a job to do. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
If you're a cop, then you know it's a no-no. I have too many friends here that know exactly who I am and where I work.... no further justification necessary
You probably do know more about flash bangs than me, I said I never used them. I also said there are other units that do. In another post not discussed by you and I, I even stated that I'm sure some teams are qualified to use them, just not all of them. You left your statement open to be interpreted as you having military experience of your own on purpose. I have three combat tours, a Purple Heart, and a bronze star, I respect your buddies achievements but don't try speaking for him to downplay mine. Off subject, although we are butting heads over this I'm glad there are LEO that are passionate about their jobs /training as you seem to be.
Yea I totally understand and I also try to keep as much personal information out of here on the internet for the same reason. I actually haven't met anyone on here though I will be meeting up with someone in the next few months. I wasn't asking for justification, just pointing out that you kind of asked specifics about him while vaguely responding with yours.
