My countys SWAT unit has more tight quarters training than the military. They are well prepared and professional.
Id love to do away with all law enforcement and see the same people speaking out against the police to come crying. You guys want the police to do their job better on a smaller budget and much tighter restrictions in how they handle their business. Yea that's always been a recipe for success.
I am not sure why you are mocking me. This is the stuff I am used to dealing with on a daily basis from the criminals in the area I patrol, not sure why seemingly good people on here hate the cops so much. It is actually kind of disheartening. You think we should give the criminal the benefit of the doubt...knock knock knock...hello criminal can we please come in while you stash all your drugs, fortify your defenses, and arm yourself with the 13 stolen firearms before we come in? Still think this cop stuff is a game? This just happened in Virginia... Officer, teenager and suspect killed in Norfolk By Catherine Rogers, WAVY-10 NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A string of violent scenes unfolded across Norfolk late Friday night. When it came to an end, three people were dead, including Norfolk Police Officer Brian Jones. During a Saturday morning news conference, Norfolk Police Chief Michael Goldsmith explained the timeline of the tragedy, which began around 10:48 p.m. That’s when emergency communications received many 911 calls about shots fired in the area. Police Goldsmith says 29-year-old James Brown was firing a gun at vehicles in the 8400 block of Chesapeake Boulevard, from behind the wheel of the Jeep he was driving. One of the bullets struck and killed 17-year-old Mark Rodriguez, who was sitting inside his car. “Mr. Rodriquez was in a vehicle. Mr. Brown was in a vehicle. Mr. Brown was randomly shooting from his vehicle and Mr. Rodriguez was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” explained Chief Goldsmith. Officer Brian Jones spotted Brown’s unattended Jeep in the 7400 block of Wellington Road. Officer Curtis Allison, who was off-duty at the time, responded to assist Officer Jones. As both officers were assessing the situation, Brown began firing a high-powered rifle from inside his home. Chief Goldsmith says Officer Jones was hit several times. Officer Allison was also wounded. The officers were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Officer Jones passed away early Saturday morning. Officer Allison was treated and released. After the Wellington Road shooting, Chief Goldsmith says Brown fled in his vehicle. Another officer spotted him speeding northbound on Galveston Avenue, then down E. Little Creek Rd. where he hit a vehicle. Brown exited his vehicle after the crash with gun in hand and refused to comply with the officer. Brown fought with and tried to disarm the officer. The officer fired his weapon, fatally wounding Brown. The entire police department family is mourning the loss of 35-year-old Brian Jones. He leaves behind a wife, 2 young sons and a young daughter. “As the Chief, my heart goes out to his family, my heart goes out to the people who worked with him. You know, I’m a cop, just like everybody else is. So this hurts, when one of us go, especially in the line of duty like this,” said Chief Goldsmith. Officer Jones was a member of the Norfolk Honor Guard and was assigned to the Traffic Unit, Crime Prevention Unit and Third Patrol Division. Police are still trying to piece together the entire course of events, which involves multiple scenes and numerous witnesses. Anyone with information that could help detectives is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
I agree that accidents can and will happen and im sure it was but didn't anyone read who issued the warrant? According to the op it was NOT a judge... thats a pretty big problem in my book. Secondly, if this was for a rapest or a murderer ok but drugs, are you kidding me, if some idiot want to do meth or crack then who the heck am I to say they cant or anyone else for that matter, this so called war on drugs has been a huge waste of time and money imo. Pretty sure there is a correlation between drugs and murders. Also that's your idea of what should and shouldn't be raided.
No. But the manufacturing and distribution of drugs. There are also more drugs that pot that are related to crimes. Keep on hating the LE, I hope the police never respond to you in a timely manner because you will never be grateful for what they do.
Sure it is a huge waste of time, sure. Just this past week there have been three shooting from within vehicles that involved drug trade and we had a guy stabbed to death as well. You do understand that meth and other hard drugs like heroin do cause a huge amount of problems in our society. But I guess you hate cops so much you are not willing to think about it for a minute. Myself and another officer staked out a drug dealer last night. He is selling in a nice neighborhood and his neighbors all know. There are afraid for their kids and such as cars come and go at all times of the day. It would be my friggin pleasure to observe him "just selling a little weed", lock the house down, and get a warrant. But hey, that is just me.....why should I care, it isn't my neighborhood? I guess we should all just mind our own business and allow the evil folks of the world do whatever the hell they want.
Have a good night everyone. I am off to hopefully catch some guy with a gun and some meth. That would make my week.
Johnny, are you 14? Just because I say they defend you, doesn't mean that they had to have directly intervened in your life thus far. When I say drugs = crime, that doesn't simply narrow it to a marijuana user.
These cops sure were protecting and serving the publics interest when they threw a flash grenade into the babies crib? I can't believe how sick and blind some people on here that are defending this **** Policing has turned into protecting their own interest their own asses to justify their existence and collect revenue. Protecting and serving the public is not even in their vocabulary and mission statement. Law enforcement is now code for an industrial corporate police state. We need to level it and rebuild it from the ground up.
Uhm what? Because they knew a baby was in there? Im sorry but mistakes do happen and it's unfortunate. If police were to protect their own interest, they wouldn't be doing anything at all so that they would have no liability, would not have to deal with idiots, would not have to deal with people who ignorantly criticize them and still collect a paycheck. There are probably only 1% of events in all of law enforcement which turn out like this, and unfortunately this is what the media shines on and people gather to. Lets just do away with the police. Lets see how that goes.
no, i'm not 14. how am I supposed to "know" what you mean? when you say defend then I can only go by the definition. if drugs=crime then where is the victim? can a person face his/her accuser in a drug "crime"? can you force a person to buy drugs?
Brett youre right noone knows what you guys go through on a daily basis....then to come home to a family and try to live a normal life with the thoughts and images in your head of some of the horrible things that the majority of people only see on TV....you guys will never get the credit you deserve from the majority of the public and it really is a damn shame....are there ******* cops....certainly.....just like there's ******* bankers and mechanics and doctors and whatever.....stereotyping all LEOs is ignorant and stupid....none of you know the whole story at all...just what the article says....most opinions in this thread just piss me off so I'll leave it at that
