You could go to the WHO website and it will give you statistics on individual countries.

(I assume you meant countries, not counties?)

Why bother to move? People from there are moving here by the thousands every day, no medical screening required b/c that would be RAAAAACIST.
What the media is not telling you is that the majority of these measles cases are in non-native born children.

Something else to consider, while measles and other diseases may not be typically fatal now; antigens mutate quickly and can become deadly as they transmit from host to host. The best way to prevent this is to stop the spread (vaccinate.)

When I moved here under a visa I was required to do a full physical and take more vaccines than I can remember. This was mandatory. Has this since changed? It would certainly tick me off if it did.

And I'm from Canada, it's not like a third World country or something.

That was a pretty horrible article to try and make a point...

I mean the 1 case they show where an infant died from the MMR vaccination, the infant had a host of pre existing heart problems. So yeah...common sense would tell you that an unhealthy baby might need to be cautious when it comes to vaccines. Plus the author admittedly make several assumptions based off pure bias.

But healthy kids? You shouldn't worry.

People may be getting a little overwrought about this. When my mother was young, the big scary scourge was scarlet fever. Kids could genuinely die from that. Scarlet fever is caused by a bacteria, so the development of antibiotics eliminated that threat. When I was young, the big deal was polio. You could die from that and a lot of kids did. You could also wind up with varying degrees of paralysis, including even the inability to breathe. The polio vaccine is a gift from the gods, not to be spurned.

Diphtheria is another disease which can have some serious complications. It's treatable with antibiotics, but the vaccination is worth any risk.

Mumps is not a big deal for a kid, but after puberty can cause sterility in guys. You would want to have your kids vaccinated before that time. Rubella is another one with high risk for adults. A woman contracting rubella during pregnancy has a 20-25% chance of delivering a baby with VERY serious problems. So you want to get that vaccination done for your daughters before they get to that age, that is childbearing age. But six-year olds don't really have to concern themselves yet with sterility or childbearing.

By contrast, measles is not very scary.

Of course there is also varicella. We used to call it chickenpox. Just about everyone got it sooner or later. My sister got it (BAAAD). The itching almost drove her nuts. I got one pock, which itched a tiny bit, sort of like a mosquito bite.. Like a good older brother, I laughed my butt off at her, of course.

So I hope Hooker and the rest of you guys can forgive me for not getting all panicky here.

Nothing to do with getting "all panicky". Just people believing in bad science gets me frustrated.

you mean you paid all kids of money, waited years of your life to come here legally, under a visa? You fool...
Of course I was referring to illegals. Tens of thousands per month, and even the ones who are "caught" are almost immediately released back on the streets with no medical or criminal background check. All they need to do is sign an affidavit stating they will appear at an immigration bond hearing, which over 80% FTA.

And as to who is the face of the anti-vaccine movement; of course it's the anti-gluten, anti-everything know-nothing effite hipster upper crust types.

My daughters are already being vaccinated for that horrible HPV virus. Im extremely happy knowing they will be given extra protection whereas other women in the past have suffered.
