Well folks, hunted the property where I get pics of the buck I named Crossbow today and pulled the card for the first time in about a month from the camera there. It looks as though Crossbow has disappeared again just like he did last year.
You may recall that I had withheld his pics all summer in an attempt to not jinx a shot at him by posting his pic publicly, apparently that's utter BS as was said before. He'll probably show back up in December like he did last year but since I'm going to be taking whatever nice KS buck happens along in front of me this year (as long as it's old enough) I'm going to go ahead and post some of his pics. I don't see any point in holding them back any more at this point.
As you'll see, he's not that impressive anyway, just one of the cooler deer we have this year because of the drop tines. He lost a lot more mass at velvet drop than I expected too, I'd still hang him on the wall if I got the chance though, lol.

Yes, Stealth Cam G42NG. I also have some video of him with the G42 as well if I can figure out how to post it somewhere for the forum.

You need to put a little carbon fiber in his diet if you get the chance. Very nice buck.

He was more impressive in velvet than hard antlered to my eye at least. No doubt he's still an awesome deer, he's definitely still in the top three deer on the ranch score wise, if not the top buck. Probably the top buck from the cool looking point of view considering the drops and that big split G4 but we have a couple with larger frames and better mass. He was actually a little better in frame and mass last year I think.

If he's still alive and makes it through another year, it'll be interesting to see what he does. I don't know if he'll gain or decline next year. I think he's older than he looks based on my history with him. He could have already been taken by a lucky hunter for all I know, that September pic is the last pic I have of him unless he's on one of the other cameras on the other side of the farm.

No I don't use the video feature hardly at all. That set is the first and only time I've ever used video mode on the stealth cams. I had two set there, one on video and the other below it on pics and left them that way for one week. The SD card on the video mode cam was full when I pulled the cards and I had a ton of vids of several bucks and does at that feeder. Every video was at least that good, the daytime vids were better, just like the pics.

Our feeders are the 350 pound version of the Bossbuck feeders, been super happy with them.

What makes you say that French? I agree he's deceptively old just based on my history with him from last year when he already looked at least 5.5 but I'm curious what your thoughts are. I'm not sure he's ancient, I'm thinking he may be as old as 7.5 this year which would kind of explain how he went from a pretty typical frame buck last year to the junky guy he is this year. I think if he makes it to next year he'll start having that melted wax antler look at 8.5+ years old.
