so i've been debating if I would be better off in the long run quartering up a deer if I'm lucky enough to shoot one. I'm hunting all wooded areas, no motor vehicle access. One area i could get away with our garden cart, the one swamp area could be do able with just dragging until the end when I have to go up a hill, and the last spot is a good 1.5+ miles back, I could get a cart to the logging road which I would have to drag a deer at the most 1/2 mile to get to a logging road for the cart (granted I make a great kill shot), and there again, I would be dealing with some terrain. then I would have to also look into a pack... so there is that:confused:

By law in WI you have to take everything but the entrails even if you quarter it.

I'd rather drag it, than carry the weight. Just make sure the drag is attached to my harness.

I have quartered and packed 2 deer out in an internal frame pack. Much easier than dragging for me. I can put a doe in it. Buck I killed last year took 2 trips but it beats dragging. I keep it in the truck with 4 large trash bags anytime I'm hunting very far in. KY requires you to telecheck the deer first or leave proof of sex on a quarter.
