If you could have one hour to pick someones brain here on bh.com on whitetail behavior or whitetail hunting.... Who would it be and why?

Hands down I would go with Shed..... His ability to scout out old bucks, become familiar with and then set up on and kill is uncanny!

I assumed this is what the thread would be about, and the first name that popped into my head: Troy [Shed].

    I agree.

There are several I'd love to sit and talk whitetail with so as to not leave the others out, I won't narrow it down to one.

Everyone but me...seriously. It's very hard to pick. Maybe Gri22ly for his map skills. That's one area I could REALLY improve. Rob because, well, I can if I really want to seeing as he's only 30minutes away:) Plus he hunts VERY close to me, same type of terrain, same crops, temps, seasonal changes, etc.

That's the lame way out.... :p It's not leaving others out... There is just some peoples who's skill sets match up well with things you would like to become better at. I would like to be able to learn how to find, scout and setup on old bucks better.... Shed is a master at this.

Talk is cheap, if I got an hour of scouting my lands with any one person...it'd be Grizz.

Eventually I'd like to have talked with Grizz, Shed, and Buckeye. Hunt different type areas and all get it done, I could learn something different from each.

    Shed.

Someday I wanna do what the locals think is impossible........kill a mature buck in the big woods of the Adirondacks with a bow. I personally don't know anyone that has gotten this done in my area. I don't even know anyone that can get it done consistently on 1.5 year old dinks up here with a bow.

Based on what I've heard from Shed, he hunts similar types of areas and gets it done on a consistent basis on mature bucks. I think we have a lower overall deer population, but the terrain, and techniques I'd imagine are similar. I'd love to know more about how he does it.

Mobow, seriously, Jeff nailed it. As much as I like hunting whitetail (a lot mind you), I'm pretty new to the game. Moreover, they are not my first love. Bighorn Sheep, Mt. Goats, Antelope, Mule Deer, and Elk make my heart go pitter patter. And sheezz, I wish I could possess a full understanding of them.

If I could (and I do), I would really like to pick everyone's brain. We were asked to select one though. Ok, I would select Mr. Hunsucker. It seems he always gets the job done no matter where he goes. I'm sure his is skill rather than luck.

Man, it matters not to me how new to the game you are. I guess I didn't answer the question specifically, as it was specific to whitetail. Ok, maybe I cheated a bit there. But I would still love to sit around a fire and pick your brain on hunting in general. I'm sure alot of the principles of what you are more familiar with could be translated to whitetails.

I would go with Rybo. Ryan and I hunt alot of the same type of areas and he is an all around great guy. I couldn't care less if a hunter had 30 B&C bucks if he is a d-bag I don't care to hear a word he says.

Because I've spent countless hours on the phone with Buckeye and had the opportunity to pick his brain, get his thought on my woods that he's visited and looked over multiple aerials with him... I have to go with Shed as well. That in no way discounts my respect for Duke, Graf, or Gri22.

No votes for me huh? Strange. Or HCH!? Where is the love?

There are definitely a few I wouldn't mind sitting down with. Buckeye, Sliverflicker, Duke (mostly because he hates this type of attention...or so he says) and Gri22ly. Josh seems like a stand up guy and I also enjoy reading maps. He has definitely helped me get better at that. I see things now I never saw before.

Quik sucks as a hunter but the dude cracks me up...so put one vote down for the king.
