Guys what is my best option for transporting my Camera to Iowa via the airlines? Carry on? Send it out a few days early via UPS? Get a hard case and check it? Let me know experienced airline travelers, thanks in advance.

Carry on... you don't want to let the airlines touch it at all. It's pretty simple to do, which airline are you flying? Most of them will allow you 2 carry-ons and then charge you $50 a piece for each checked bag.

Shed, when I traveled to WY, I shipped my bow, checked one bag and had my video and still camera plus all I needed to hunt in my backpack which I carried on. Really no different than it was ready to take to the blind with me. (Of course, no knives, sharp objects etc...).

I didn't do anything special. As long as your comfortable it's padded. Some flights I put it over head, others I put it under the seat in front of me.
