Congrats on a GREAT BUCK, I'm seeing what looks to be around a 160-class deer, a side view would be nice though.......:D
Thanks guys. Well, I almost did not even go Sunday, but since the wind was perfect for my “honey hole” stand I just could not pass it up. I got up in the tree by about 3:00 and within an hour I had a small doe bedded beside me. The doe put on a nice show for the next hour or so and really helped pass the time, as the sun started to set I had about 4 does come past the tree stand and a nice looking 2 ½ year old 6 point all going into the soybean field I hunt on the edge of. As darkness sat in deer continued to come in from all directions into the beans and just a few minutes before shooting light ended, I hear a twig snag and this big guy came cruising in with a doe by his side. As I watched his horns weave in and out of the undergrowth I pulled back, and as I settled my pin in an opening he stopped broadside in my shooting lane. It was a perfect double lung 20 yard shot and he did not go over a 100 yards. I shot him on a small farm that is bordered to agricultural fields. It just goes to show you do not have to have a huge amount of land as long as it is in the right spot
Way to go man! That's a great buck and a textbook early season success story. When they're still hitting the beans there's no better place to be. Congrats!
