I am a college student, so during the fall semester I can only hunt my main hunting property on the weekends which is two hours away from my school. Luckily I have thursdays off of class, which is perfect for hunting the public land near me. It will be my first time hunting public land, and I have already been out to scout the property, but I am concerned about not being able to use the resourses I use back home.(trail cams, hang-ons, even mineral licks.) obviously I wont be alone out there, and my hope is that the pressure wont be as bad early in the year, mainly because its predominaly gun hunters that use it. As I have said before, i've scouted it out and found really good sign deep into the property,( scrapes, rubs) where major deer trails come together, which come from what I assume to be a bedding area because of how thick and basically unaccessable it is, which parallels a very large marsh area. Ive looked at arial photos of the land and it is surrounded by some agriculture. I plan on using a climber so I dont have to worry about tree stand theft, but I want to bring the deer out of the thicket towards my direction, but without using trail cameras and mineral licks, ect....im not sure how to go about it, because of pressure from other bowhunters that might be in the area. Feedback on what I have found, and other advice would be greaty appreciated!!!

Forget about bringing them out. This is the wrong mindset for your situation. Put yourself were there deer want to be, not where you want them to be and it will fall into place.
Study the patterns of the other hunters in the area and use them to you advantage. Think low impact, and be willing to out work the other hunters in the area.

I agree. I never worry about how to get a deer out. That's the fun part! That means you scored! Go to the deer, and have an adventure.

For public land going in with the mentality of how do I get them to come to me is going to be a struggle. You can't really alter anything that would let you accomplish that. What you need to do is find travel corridors and figure out how do I get between the car and that travel spot without spooking them. It's about being in the right place. Public deer get educated fast. I wouldn't do any blind calling, I definitely wouldn't rattle. Maybe grunt a little bit if you can see a deer and you know he isn't headed your way. Otherwise you gotta think ambush.

The area I planned on hunting is right where two major trials come together, and I didnt go to far in to where they came from but on the map it goes through a funnel that goes between marshland and some grassland, and connects two big areas of timber. Thats where I found the sign. All of your advice will help!! Thanks!!
