My property as well as my neighbors, which I have the okay to hunt on, all run along a property that is about 110. however the owner of this property rarely gives hunters permission to hunt his land (he owns the golf course located on part of it).

What could i do to increase my chances of getting permission to hunt on his land? Should I give a barrier such as the small stream running through the property as a barrier I wont cross?

How should I go about getting a hold of the landowner?

Well, I am in a similar situation as you.

I'm going to wait until after this season, and then come this early spring, go knock on the door and introduce myself, small talk, and then explain to them what I am there for. Offer any help what so ever to be allowed the privilege to hunt.

To find out who owns it or where they live, either go to the golf course club house and ask around, or, look it up on your county auditor website.

    Good Luck!

Generally I Like to send a letter. I am very professional, explaining my credentials as well as what i want to do, and ask the person to lunch where they can get to know me further and what i am about. dress well and be professional. its like a job interview

well I have noticed some of his no trespassing signs have been knocked down or destroyed so that might be a selling point. L2D I like the idea of the letter and a meeting.
Ohiorut I kinda creeped it out already and have his home address as well as phone number. I checked because i wanted to know exactly where property lines were as well as who owned what property. I might end up sending out a few letters and seeing exactly how much land i can get the okay to hunt on.

    Knock on his door
    Be polite and articulate
    Dress nice
    Offer him venison
Offer your help around his land/house/farm (goes a long way for me)

I just take my 3 year old daughter and ask them if I can walk the property to take pics and that I want to show here the animals so I don't disturb my hunting area. Then they usually start asking alot of questions and boom I have a 25 acre parcel and just got the exclusive on a 425 plus acre farm with 175 of it in timber. Kids and conversation are my key.

Bingo! This is what I do and so far the farmer says he is selling the land and wants all hunters off. Well, I am the last man standing because he knows that is my only spot and it has been on the market for three years now. All hunters gone but ME! Take care of the land and I also dont drive my truck on his land either. I use my 4 wheller and that also helps!

I also send a letter with a date and time that I will stop by to discuss the offer. I include my phone number as an easy out if they dont want to give me permission without even meeting me.

Keep in mind too, sometimes you need to expand your search area. I live in the incredibly wealthy/PC area of NE Illinois, and I had to send out 108 letters this past spring and summer until I finally received permission. The parcel I have permission on now is up for sale, so Im sending letters out to the same 108+ from last year, and Im also expanding my search the the neighboring counties.

I've never seen property lines on google maps.

How do you get them to show up??

As to the original question.............take a female along with you. Guys are a million times less likely to be negative in front of a lady. If he is then you don't want to hunt there anyways. Even if you get a "no" it will be a polite one.

I'd go knock on the man or womans door tell him/her who you are and what you want and what you are willing to do to be able to do it.be respectful and look him/her in the eye. either way he/she decides shake his/her hand thank him/her for thier time.manners and maturity goes a long way with folks but be yourself most folks dont like to feel buttered up it kinda makes distrust. I hope you get this honey hole your after best of luck to you!
