Tipping Dilema

It is not the patrons of the bar I would be concerned about. It is the other bartenders/waiters. Restaurants are basically one giant orgy behind the scenes or after work.

 

Haha, ok, let's say I know the place and people who work there. It's mostly older folks. She is one of the youngest people that works there.

My mother worked as a waitress/bartender in a restaurant/bar from the time she was 18 until she got married which was after I did. She worked from 6PM until about 2AM six nights a week, every day but Sunday. (You can serve alcohol at 18 in Michigan even though you can't drink it until you're 21.)

She made excellent money in tips. The guy she married was one of her customers. After they started dating, he was the only guy she ever dated while I was growing up, she asked him to stop tipping her when he came in, which after they started dating was just about every night.

He would bring his crew in every couple of weeks for dinner and a few beers and he insisted on tipping her on those nights because of the extra work, but otherwise, no tips.

So I would suggest you keep tipping your bartender/friend until she asks you to stop.

Expect to pay for the drinks, and tip like normal (unless your cheap, then tip a bit more...). If she says otherwise, score! Don't assume you're getting anything for nothing.

I worked security in nightclubs for 5 years, my wife was one of the bartenders that always deep poured my Diet Coke's with Vodka when I was working but I never tipped her

Oh this is a thread I know a lot about. I've been a bartender and dated bartenders. I always tipped huge depending on the girl. It would be anywhere from $20 to $100 bucks. It worked well until they all figured out I was "seeing" four or five of them

Some of the best fornicating I've done was with bartenders. Almost all of them have daddy issues and we all know what that means.

I've always tipped strippers very well, depending on their services.

 

What Indy doesn't know is that he has fallen into the ole hot bartender scam! This is where a hot bartender will hook up with her prey and invite him to her bar while she is working. She tells him that she has to talk and flirt with all the patrons as it is bar policy. He feels the need to pay for his drinks and tip her well, because she's his girl. What he doesn't know, is that bartender is also "dating" every other guy in the bar and inviting them to come down to work too. Thus, she has easily quadrupled her tips, and the bar owner is so happy with the increased sales that he has increased her wages.

Before you get PO'd Indy, the preceding was just a joke. Although, I would not date a bartender or barmaid for two reasons: 1. they are encouraged to flirt to increase sales and tips and that wouldn't sit well with me; and 2. My wife would not put up with it.
