Its that time for me. Time to upgrade my cell phone. The phone I have been looking at is the Blackberry Curve 8330. Do any of you use this phone? If so what are some pros and cons about it. My service is through Alltel so I don't have the largest selection of phones or the most high tech.
I have a Curve and love it. Very reliable, easy to use, and much easier to type on that an iPhone. Best phone I've ever owned for sure.
You really like it better then the iPhone JZ? I am going to be in the market for a new phone in the next few weeks and was thinking of going iPhone.
You guys suck, I'm through US Cellular... the absolute WORST selection of service and phones, I could go with Altell if I didnt want any service....lol
Go figure the Alltel dont carry the iphone. Alltel gets pretty good service around here. Good to hear you like it Justin. Thats what I was looking for. The one downer is no picture messaging, but I think I can email from the blackberry so it should be ok.
Is this your first BB, Joe? You're in for a treat, my friend. They do a lot more than email! I use a Storm but the Curve is an excellent choice, also
I say iphone all the way. :d I got the 1st gen the day it was released and I've not even looked at another phone. Although I will be upgrading to the iphone 3.0 this year!
Yes, it will be my first. I'm glad to hear good things. I think the biggest problem will be the size. I manage to catch my current phone on everything I walk by and rip it off my waist. I guess with this one, I'll just have to get a full protective case.
While I like my Blackberry Pearl, I have to admit they are nothing short of JUNK. I have been through 3 of them, at no fault to me....weird internal screw ups and such. Curves seem to not have that problem. Last time me and dad came up for an upgrade about 2 weeks ago, we bought two curves under contract for like $30 each, and sold them on ebay for $230 each...LOL. That's like half a years bills paid for.
For those that don't know it, Verizon bought Alltel. I work for them. So if you had Verizon now you have both. (and vice versa)
I believe the iphone is more powerful and "cooler" than the BB, and if it was available on Verizon I'd probably have one by now. But I just can't bring myself to switch to AT&T considering their service pales in comparison. If they can improve their network I may consider jumping ship when V3 of the iphone comes out later this year. My biggest complaint about the iphone is not being able to type as quickly or as efficiently without a physical keyboard. I have an ipod touch which is virtually the same thing as the iphone minus the phone and I use it to surf the web, update facebook, etc when I'm too lazy to get on the PC.
JZ, I haven't had any experiences with AT&T in this area. Is that the network that Todd uses for his iPhone?
Unless he has a bootleg/jailbroken Iphone it is with AT@T, nobody else in the US can sell them under the current license agreement.
Ummm, this could be incorrect. In Ohio Verizon is divesting some Alltel markets and depending on where the service is in Ohio he could stay an Alltel customer until VZW finds a buyer. The following link to Alltel will allow a zip code to validate if it will be VZW or a divested market. http://www.alltel.com/wps/portal/AlltelPublic/Content?WCM_GLOBAL_CONTEXT=/wps/wcm/connect/Alltel/Alltel.com/Home/DInter
I would use the following link to validate if you are being absorbed into Verizon. http://www.alltel.com/wps/portal/AlltelPublic/Content?WCM_GLOBAL_CONTEXT=/wps/wcm/connect/Alltel/Alltel.com/Home/DInter If it is going VZW hold your horses for another month or two, there should be a new Blackberry called the Niagra dropping soon which is similar to the Bold but the size of a Curve, it will be my next BB. Also for those looking at an iPhone there are rumors they are making CDMA models, this is backed by job posts last year for CDMA engineers. If Apple quits being overly greedy bastards Verizon will likely be porting the 3rd generation iPhone in their lineup. I have heard more but that is all I can disclose.
Well I will have to decide on something soon since I will be without a phone/contract in a week or two.
I love my BB Curve As stated before, you won't be dissapointed. It does take a little getting use to as far as buttons, texting, ect. But its well worth it
